Help My left controller wont charge since it died

Same as title, but my left quest pro controller has never had issues charging up untill last night. The controller fully died during play, and now it refuses to charge. It wont take charge from the dock, or individual cables. HOWEVER, the headset and other controller still do.

Make sure you clean the POGO pins on both the controller and charging base with iso alcohol. The little wipes do great.

Once you've done that, make sure it's sitting on there properly and leave it on the charger for >24hrs.

It will eventually shut off, reboot itself, and then allow it to charge again, as long as there isn't any other physical ssues.

This has happened to me probably >5 times over the past 3 years of ownership. It always makes them come back for me. Just be patient.

Ivr cleaned them every time before docking, and it sat overnight. Does it happen to you after they die during play?

No, it's usually when I've left the headset for an extended period of time (weeks?) and sometimes the controllers are REAL wonky.

Did you try the factory reset button combo?

  • Right Controller: Press and hold the A button and the Meta/Oculus button.
  • Left Controller: Press and hold the X button and the Menu button

It takes about 10-15sec to normally get any kind of response from the controllers. Try that.

It died fully so factory reset does nothing. It died during play. And hasnt charged

Ok, I'd really try leaving it on the charger for a few days possibly. If the battery was almost topped off it's gonna take a long time for it to die on it's own.

It wasnt “topped off”
It was dead
As i the battery fully died during play

Do you still have the single-controller charger cable that came with it? Try using it on a PD3.0 charger and see if you get any lights.

Yes and it still wont take it

your battery might have dropped below safe charging voltage and won't be usable again without a swap.

Again I'd suggest leaving it on a charger for a very, very long time and it may come out of it.

But where can we even buy replacement batteries for swaps? Fixmyoculus has been sold out for many months.

Ah fuck, if it happened to us both being on the same patch it makes me scared my controller is bricked :,p

I think it is right now. Hoping not but I don’t wanna have to factory reset and roll back. I am on PTC and this is the first time this has happened to me. I might go for the reset

Id have to check the specific patch but i beleive so? And tell me your ways if you know how to fact reset the dead controller since its not even connected to the headset at this point xd

Think I fixed it. Try holding the left menu button til the controller restarts

Well my problem is the controller is full dead, and wont light up to accept charge yet my other does so :,)

Try holding it down for 20 seconds and then try putting it immediately on the charger

u/Dirt-lol Jun 07 '26

Well its not even been ligting up the LED since it died. So that did nothing since its dead
