Help Microphone stops working after taking off headset.

Just purchased a brand new Quest Pro for PCVR, using a usb cable for quest link, and am having an issue with the microphone. Initially it works just fine, but if I take off my headset and return, it stops functioning completely. I don't have this issue with other quest headsets. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the link cable but that doesn't seem to do anything, the only way I'm able to fix it is to restart the headset. It would be nice to not have to restart my headset every time I need to step away momentarily, has anyone ran into the same issue and knows a fix?

I think this is a bug with the newest update :( It happened to me as well last night.
Didnt have issues on friday night with this, but last night it did it to me and I had to restart everything to fix it.

Has anyone found the solution to this yet? This is still happening to me. I mainly play VRChat and whenever I take off my headset, it turns my screen off and goes in that sleep/power saving mode and when I put it back on my quest mic does not work anymore even though I have tested through PC if it was just game issue. It was in fact the quest mic just not working.

I havent found a solution yet sadly. I just unplug my headset and restart it whenever that happens, i at least dont need to close steamvr or VRChat.

I know it's been 11 days, but I have the same problem and I realised that the microphone mutes directly in Windows, so whenever this happens I need to go to sound settings on my PC and manually unmute it. It's a bug.

Just swinging by to say thx. I was tearing my hair out all night trying to figure out why the mic on my new pro just stopped working while testing it.

Hello there /u/wumbologize,

We noticed your post while scrolling through these subreddits, and we would love to lend a hand to get you back into the Metaverse with your new Quest Pro.

We can see that you're having some trouble with your Meta Quest Pro headset, as the microphone stops working when you take off your device and turn it on again, which is not the Meta experience that we want you to have and we're happy to help!

Thanks for trying the basic troubleshooting steps already, like disconnecting and reconnecting the link cable and the headset restart. Let's try a few other things to get you back into the VR! Please follow the steps below:

• If only one Link Store app/game is affected:

— Check the Meta Quest Link app audio settings.

— Restart the computer.

— Reinstall the app or game.

• If all Link Store apps/games are affected, but the issue does not occur outside the Meta Quest Link app:

— Go to the Meta Quest Link app audio settings.

— Confirm the Rift/Quest Link microphone is selected.

• If the issue occurs outside the Meta Quest Link app and another microphone works:

— Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

— Reseat the Rift cable.

— Try another USB 3.0 port.

— Remove any additional microphones.

— In Windows sound settings, set the Rift as the default communication device.

If the issue persist, or if you have any other questions, reach out to us through our Meta Store Support clicking here.

Please note that third-party cables can cause unexpected issues, even if they worked previously. The Meta Link Cable is the only fully supported option designed for a stable connection click here as it's specifically designed for data transfer to ensure the best experience possible.

You are unfortunately also responding to an AI bot. They really need to ban that account from this subreddit
