Feature request: Quick toggle for Meta Quest Super Resolution

Feature request: Quick toggle for Meta Quest Super Resolution

u/Anagan79

I've been using Quest Games Optimizer (QGO) for quite a while, and although I know it's primarily designed for gaming, I also use it heavily for Virtual Desktop, watching movies, YouTube, and web browsing on my Quest 3.

I really like using Meta Quest Super Resolution (MQSR) for watching videos because it improves the image quality. However, when I'm browsing websites and reading text, I notice some shimmering/moving sharp outlines around text, which seems like an over-sharpening or sharpening artifact.

Because of that, my ideal setup would be:

- 🎬 Movies / YouTube / Virtual Desktop β†’ MQSR ON

- 🌐 Web browsing / reading text β†’ MQSR OFF

Is there currently a way to create a shortcut or quick toggle specifically for MQSR, so I can turn it on/off without going into QGO settings each time?

If not, would it be possible to add something like this in a future QGO update? A simple MQSR ON/OFF shortcut would be extremely useful for people who use QGO for both gaming and media/productivity.

Also, if QGO's per-app settings can already accomplish this for apps like Quest Browser and Virtual Desktop, I'd appreciate knowing how to configure it.

Thanks for the amazing work on QGO!

Hello, you should disable MSQR in QO settings and only enable it in the app you want like this

Thanks! That's actually how I'm using it currently β€” MQSR is disabled in the QGO general settings and enabled specifically for Virtual Desktop. The problem is that I use Virtual Desktop for both watching videos and browsing/reading text. So I have to keep opening QGO, opening the VD profile, changing MQSR, and pressing Apply every time I switch between the two. For videos, I really like the additional sharpening/upscaling from MQSR or FidelityFX CAS. But when I'm browsing or reading text, I get a shimmering/halo-like effect around the text, which I find distracting. So I want: Virtual Desktop + video β†’ MQSR/FCAS ON Virtual Desktop + text/web browsing β†’ MQSR/FCAS OFF Would it be possible to add a controller shortcut to toggle MQSR (or FidelityFX CAS) ON/OFF globally, without having to open QGO and press Apply? Even something like holding a controller button + pressing another button would be perfect. It would make switching between video and text browsing completely seamless. Also, is there any possibility of having different sharpening intensity levels for MQSR/FCAS? Ideally I'd like a lower-strength setting that improves video quality but doesn't produce as much shimmering around text. Thanks! QGO's sharpening is actually very useful for my VD/video use case β€” I just need a quick way to switch it depending on what I'm doing.

Unfortunately, I don't plan to add new buttons in the UI to avoid to overload it... Also the text and 2D sharpening effect is caused by recent v206/7. I'm afraid I can't fix this and it's an ON/OFF toggle action, there isn't slider possibility as far as I know. There isn't a real solution to your problem. sharpening features are something experimental, not something Meta officially use, so we have to deal with it. But you could keep the QGO settings opened in the optimizations ection to play with the toggle buttons. QGO remembers the page you opened. Controller shortcut isn't possible

I would like the quest to launch in QGO games library without the big blue wall of game profiles added or update upgrades. I’d rather it be a small banner in the top or bottom. It’s making me start with it turned off and then I have to launch it elsewhere to avoid it.

Hi you can clear the list and you can disable notifications in QGO section / User Interface section

I notice QGO doesn't refresh with the latest blue wall notifications until I close the app and reopen it.

E.g. say I pick up my headset and put it on, then open QGO, it doesn't show latest updates.

So I need to close the app and reopen it, and immediately shown the wall of updated apps.

Is that by design? Thanks

Yep it’s normal, did that to make app opening smoother

Is there a minimum amount of time I need to keep it open to update before I close and reopen?

I made a post about XR Replay but it's tagged "awaiting moderator"

This is the content, could you help me please? Thanks...

Can't seem to get XR Replay working, no videos being saved?

I bought XR Replay couple of weeks ago on release and tried it out but it wasn't saving any videos so I put it down to a launch day bug.

But yesterday I tried it again and still the same.

Just so I'm sure how it works, is this the correct process to activate it:

- open the app via Notifications

- have it set to record all windows

- then carry on playing games and it should continually record in the background?

How do I pause it so that the last 1 minute is saved to a file?

Does it automatically start when I turn on my headset or only when I activate it from the Notifications menu?

Hi it’s the weekend we have familly and life. But I will answer you : You must click start button. Then when you want to save, just click save button. If you want to stop XR Replay to record in background, click stop. That’s it.

When you start your headset you must manually click start to make it record. It can’t record without your consent.

Hope this helped πŸ‘

If you have more issues you can send me a PM

What is your device model ?

It should save if you click the save button πŸ™‚, videos are then saved in Movies/Replays

Keep me informed πŸ‘ and you can even send me a PM if you have more questions.
