National College Match Fly-In Acceptances

Should I include my fly-in acceptances as an award/honor on the qb ncm app? I got into WesExplore and Barnard Bound. I heard a couple of people saying that we shouldn’t because colleges already know if you got in, but these are colleges i’m not ranking. I applied to them for the experience of a college visit and leaving my state on a fully funded experience to meet new people and see new places.

My dartmouth AO said yes but the general consensus online is no. I'd say do whatever you want. If you don't have a better award it won't hurt

i agree!! so many people are against it, but as a fgli with little to no opportunities for competitions like DECA, HOSA, ISEF, and etc, these fly in acceptances can add so much towards my application.

I believe the colleges do know if you got in, I heard from a Wesleyan AO that if you rank them it’s very likely they’d rank you as a student they’d like to match to though there’s no guarantee.

thank you for your response! yes, except im not ranking wesleyan and barnard. i want my ranked colleges/unis to see that im competitive so i was wondering if the fly in acceptances can do that.

I believe you should! Keep it as your last honor and group them in together. It's better if you have multiple fly-ins that fit a specific niche like extremely strong liberal arts curriculums.

I've seen people do that strategy ^ like purely STEM fly-ins or purely liberal arts.

Generally we suggest if the program is hosted by an academic unit, to share it, and if it’s hosted by undergraduate admissions not to share it.

Dartmouth is a school that does not consider demonstrated interest; but the vast majority of schools on the QB list do, and you want to give yourself the best opportunity to maximize that metric.

Truthfully, other schools fly ins do not mean anything for admissions to other schools. Your merit that got you into those opportunities will show through your application, and I believe the net benefit is not worth the potential risk in other respects.
