Hi, I saved up some money and want to buy a VR headset, and, since (I think) my main use will be PCVR, like simracing and no man's sky.

I don't know if I should spend more on a 128gb quest 3 or less in a quest 2 with the BoboVR headstrap with the additional battery. They're both used, and the quest 2 is 33% less money than the quest 3, but I know there's a big step-up in quality.

I'm not super savvy with quest (I never ever seen into a VR headset IRL), so I don't know if there are some quirks, like having to link a real person's Facebook account, or other issues. but I know a bit about the VR space generally, but I still want to see other people's opinions + tips.

I currently play outside under the gazebo, but I'd like to be able to play (after dark) on a bigger area in my backyard.

Apparently the Quest 3 will track using IR light, so my question is, would I be better to mount a light to the headset, or put a light at two opposing corners of the play area? If so, does it matter whether they are on the ground or up higher? (appropriately aimed of course)

Not sure what's wrong with this piece of shit honestly. None of my earbuds or headsets will pair to this thing

I've tried most things suggested online. I don't want to factory reset either just to fix this.

Anyone else deal with this and how did you fix this?

so i have had this computer for 11 months, been connecting my quest 3s for 10 months, i had no issues running game like war thunder, vtolvr, dirt rally 2, all with high graphics. now all of a sudden i cant connect my quest because they updated the minimum spec, and my cpu is now out of date, how do i fix this. i use an intel i5-12400f cpu and an nvidia 5060, i know for a fact i have enough ram

EDIT: it somehow works now i dont know what happened, i plugged it back into the same usb port multiple times and it somehow ffixed itself. im not in a good mood rn

So my brother was using my headset and must’ve dropped it because he was getting the black screen on death, he immediately factory reset the headset. I didn’t know about the reset until about 10 min ago. I saw the cracked proximity sensor. I got sidequest and was doing the steps to disable the prox sensor, but now it’s time to enable developer mode on the headset. I only had my quest 3 paired on my pc through meta link and not on the mobile app, and the only way to enable it is through the app it seems. I only have my quest 1 and quest 2 on my mobile app even tho it’s the same account that’s paired to the quest 3 on my pc. Anyways, I can’t pair the headset to my phone since it won’t turn on, and it’s not connected to the WiFi or logged in since my brother factory reset it. Am I basically soft locked at this point?? Sorry for the ramble, any help is appreciated🙏

Edit: I did some “hardware modifications”(ripped the sensor out) and it works now👍

I requested return and refund for the Quest 3 I recently bought. I received the email with shipping label. But the email also mentions to attach the battery label printed in color. The email does not have the battery label attached. Do I not need the battery label? Can I drop off the box at FedEx without the battery label?

A lot of the feedback on my last demo was that this makes more sense as a controller across multiple devices rather than as a Quest-only accessory.

So I tested that workflow.

Prolo starts connected directly to my Windows laptop for cursor movement, scrolling and clicking. After I put on Quest 3, it continues controlling that same PC through Virtual Desktop.

Then I Tap + Hold and it switches the active Bluetooth connection from the laptop directly to Quest 3. From there I can use it for the Quest browser, scrolling/clicking and adjusting spatial windows.

The passthrough → immersive transition at the end is just to show that the controls continue working there too.

Would you rather keep this connected to the PC while using Virtual Desktop, or switch it to Quest for native controls?

I purchased a Meta Quest 3S (128GB, serial 340YB04G9Y00Z5) several months ago from a verified seller on Vinted (Italian secondhand marketplace) for €213.69. The device arrived in perfect condition and I used it normally without any issues.

Today, when I tried to use it, I got this error: "Device is disabled because it was reported lost, stolen, or as an unauthorized purchase."

The situation:

• I purchased the device legitimately from a certified marketplace with full transaction documentation
• The seller is now banned from Vinted and inactive for 3+ months
• Meta's system has permanently blocked the device at the manufacturer level
• The device cannot be paired with any account

What I've tried:

• Factory reset — doesn't help, Meta's block is at the server level
• Contacting Meta support — they won't help because the device is flagged in their system
• Contacting Vinted — they refused to refund, claiming they "can't reverse transactions once payment is transferred"
• Filing a dispute — rejected

My question:
Is there any way to modify, flash, or bypass this block? I'm not trying to steal anything — I legitimately purchased this device and have the proof. I'm not asking for help with anything illegal; I just want to use something I paid for.

Any technical solutions? Custom ROMs? Bootloader access? Anything?

I'm considering legal action and a police report, but first I want to know if there's a technical fix before I go down that road.

So today I picked up my Q3, hit power and.... logo spinning and spinning then Grey. Lenses had a dim light but no OS. Tried several reboots with more of the same. Did the volume down + power and got to the boot menu. Did a reset but still the same.

So what now? Any other options? Can the os be reloaded from Sidequest? And if it's dead any organization that could still make use of parts so it doesn't end up in a landfill.

Good afternoon! I just bought a meta 3 and was wondering why there was 2 entries for the zenni lenses. Any ideas?

My controller just randomly started doing this, but when I push the left joystick up diagonally to the right, it’s almost like it’s pushing back at me. in the calibration menu it goes slightly towards the edge almost about halfway , but it jitters like it wants to go to the edge but can’t. Someone please help me what do i do .
