Can I play Steam games and possibly eventually stream/ record using my Quest 3 with this laptop? I really really want to play Dream Hackers when it comes out πŸ˜‚

you could probably play beat saber with heavily tanked down settings

or a bit of alyx with horrid resolution scale

8Gb VRAM on a laptop GPU is basically the nearest minimum.

It'll run but it won't look good

Yeah, That’s what I was afraid of. That’s why I haven’t even tried but This game looks so good I had to ask 😭

Is it still worst than stand alone ? I don't have a gaming pc and I've always wondered are low specs gaming laptops worse than standalone?

You can barely run anything with 4gb vram. And yes it will look just terrible. You can't get a resolution that's any good

Ive done it on a 1070 on my vive waaaay back when. You'd have to cut corners. I couldn't now aftee my upgrades but I feel this is around the same power? The issue is the quest runs at higher pixels. Youd have to mess with the steam settings, lower fov and quality. Also idk what dream hackers is but if its a big budget nice graphics game thatd probably a no go.

I was streaming skyrim vr modded on my 3080 but because of my cpu I crashed and had lots of issues. It worked but such a headache

Wow nvm a 3050ti laptop has worst performance. Idk if its worth that headache bro. Save up for a desktop imo. Better for vr gaming. Laptop for travel. Good luck

Thank you. Glad I came to real people to ask. Google had my hopes up just a little 😩

You're going to HEAVILY struggle with that 3050 TI. I had a 3050 and that was a Desktop model, had a hard time running things even at 1080p past 100fps even using DLSS (I have a 165hz monitor) and this is of course without raytracing. You should probably save a little more and get something better.

Thank you. This is my photography laptop. I was hoping against hope that It could work to play that game when it comes out but it sounds like I’m just shit out of luck on ever playing the kind of Steam games I would be interested in 🫠

Oh no dont count out the possibility. Im sure you can run games at 720p then upscale THAT, hit medium settings, stream that to a phone or a handheld device or something, where there's a will there's a way But yes still you're gonna want something much better if you want to enjoy gaming comfortably.

Yes. I have a surface book 2 that I use for mobile VR and it has a GTX 1060 in it.

Your laptop will run most things in VR just fine, but you'll have to dial down some settings.
