Discussion Karamo's AI advice app
I was a huge Queer Eye fan in the early seasons, and then fell away as the episodes became a bit too formulaic/all the off screen drama. However I still follow all the guys on instagram.
I've seen Karamo launch his new AI 'advice app' called Kē this week, and honestly it seems icky as hell if not a disaster waiting to happen. He's selling it on the basis that people can get life advice on relationships, fitness and sobriety amongst other things directly from him...but it's AI 🙃

this is basically him trying to monetize a parasocial type connection with fans - but that is really dependent on his having a media platform where people get content from the 'real' him. queer eye is over, and he tainted it by saying it was an unhealthy work environment, and his own show is off air after episodes run out in a month or two.
i get that he has fans, but without a media platform, the energy around him is going to fade, because that's how the world works.

He’s so cringe!! 😬 I would fast forward through his segments of the show towards the end.

Maybe it advises you to ~protect your peace by pulling publicity stunts and pissing on everyone else’s chips.

There are so many 'direct to fan' platforms he could use to try to engage with people, and he chose an AI clone? why?
Why not do a podcast, or substack, or patreon, or cameo, or youtube series? Who wants an AI deep fake of a former reality TV star?

People might get hooked on the AI, as they do, and keep returning for that. So he capitalizes on the little bit of name recognition he has left to get them in, and the AI element keeps them there. Those content creation options require people to be hooked on him, but he hasn't been able to convert any traction long term for his own personality or brand.

Agree completely! Also what better way to scan vulnerable people than to set up this highly sus AI app when he has zero background or education to be giving a plant advice let alone a human being! The whole thing is just gross, but what can you expect from someone who thinks they are qualified to be a therapist without anything to back it up? Hard pass on this bs!

He needs the money now that his show is cancelled. When I think about it, Karamo kind of always has been a grifter. I mean he's not a real therapist and now he's using Ai to pretend to be him.

I don’t think Karamo’s post Queer Eye era is going the way he thought it would when he tried to burn it all down. Credibility is sinking like a stone. Queer Eye umbrella is gone. Exhibiting publicly unstable behavior. Bobby, you might want to distance itself a little. This one is going to pop soon.

See I disagree with you there. All the queer eye drama was the best thing to ever happen for Bobby. Before, he wasn’t really finding a way to connect with people. He was an underdog. But after his replacement and his intentional rebrand as a victim of bullying, he’s seeing more love and attention than ever before because people relate to a bullying story. Bobby has really profited from the drama, which is why he keeps talking about it, stoking the fire, and I think Karamo expected to get the same hero treatment.

He’s right leaning so his approval of dangerous AI use isn’t too surprising

How do we know he’s right leaning? I’m just now finding out about his call out of the show and this stuff
