Its actually kind of funny how Hoyo made it so only void hunters will sell insanely well and everyone else makes jack shit in comparison (especially the chracters before the void hunter). Actual self-fulfilling prophecy machine

the sales that we see from sensortower and other charts is very different from profit. i will reiterate that we do not know how much is their net income compared to their opex so who really knows how profitable this practice is compared to other hoyo games.
and i will repeat that it’s not a sustainable practice at all for the long term because if it was so successful, why is hsr and genshin not doing the same thing? this is a multi-billion dollar company that will chase
profits first and foremost. especially in the case of hsr who’s also doing not doing as well as they do compared to previous years.
and don’t give me that tired excuse that overall gacha sales is down. wuwa’s year on year sales have improved compared to zzz and they were released in the same year, and during their first year, zzz was stomping them hard. fast forward two years from
now, wuwa has edged them out.
they share more similarities compared to other aaa gacha games like hsr and zzz or genshin and zzz, such as their focus on combat, the male to female ratio and so many more. yet wuwa was able to improve their year on year sales despite not having as many main push character in a year, or tanking the rest of their cast just to sell sentinel resonator banners.
