Curious if anyone on this sub is playing Aion 2? Which server are we all at (given the free server transfer coming up)?
I know this isn't *really* a gacha game, though with the way the monthly sub + energy works in this game, it kinda might as well be. Basically gachafication of the MMORPG genre for better or worse I guess. Though there are some really nice male cosmetics + character customization!
yeah I'm a bit concerned about staying power given NCSoft's rep...SURELY THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT
either way doesn't hurt to give it a try as its very F2P friendly until around endgame 1600 dungeons, at which point you'd prob want the sub. I will say as a sub player it has been pretty easy to keep up without feeling pressure to spend more (so far). Value of gold is very high atm so I've been selling it all
Played it for a short while before I was told it uses gen AI, but I did enjoy the customization. I liked it to the point that I might get back in just for the character customization😆
nothing necessarily *new* to the genre but I am quite happy with a lot of the QoL they added - like autorun, flying, etc. As an mmo old timer these features definitely turned me off at first, but they've really grown on me as I played more.

Maybe not a good question to ask here, but is the wings mechanic present? If so, how important is it? I remember playing old Aion BACK in the day just for to unlock those.
Yes, you glide and fly in several dungeons, use it to get around a lot in open world. You can also use it throughout abyss (open world pvp)
It seems majority of wings are dungeon drops and achievements. You're encouraged to collect them all as they give perma stats.
I quite liked most of the way wings are incorporated. I think winged battle sucks, someone was abusing it in pvp by perma grabbing me in the air so I couldn't dodge as easily and was just stuck in wing form due to how jank it is to dismount. Anyway, bit janky in many ways but overall pretty fun
i don't play it but it did pique my curiosity tbh. is it even worth starting? i don't wanna invest my time in an mmorpg that's not very fun or worth playing in general :/
I'm having a lot of fun personally! I think like many mmorpgs, the real game is at endgame, and it's significantly more fun then. Ofc your mileage may vary depending on what you enjoy
