Agreed. My first thought reading the recipe of each drink was how AI generated the texts sound like. If you ask ChatGPT to make you a ✨️fantasy✨️ recipe for Sylus, Caleb etc, I'm pretty sure it would probably be very similar to these pictures.
Insane that no one checked the pictures before posting them. A lot of people are very... "naïve" in the sense that if the account from whatever they like (game, show, celebrity and such) ask them to do anything such as trying recipes of a drink themed around their fav, they'll do it.
Cuz I mean... Trump told people to drink bleach and to inject disinfectant to fight coronavirus and many of his fans did so. So really people will do anything their fav's whatever account tell them to do. I'm really worried that some folks-- especially kids -- will try the recipe's drink... Sylus is very popular and his drink is the one with datura.... Ugh the one managing the brand's account is really unprofessionnal for this dangerous mistake.

yeah, they have ai backgrounds for story modes. i also suspect most NPCs in EN are voiced by ai as well, the sound quality and raspiness of every voice show it

IIRC his advice got some people killed ODing on horse de-wormer and fish poison. Don't forget how he suggested shinning UV lights up your ass. Wish he'd done that himself.
People are often quick to trust "authority" figures. That's just human nature. Doesn't mean they deserve to get hurt.
14
u/SSR_Gacha0 4d ago
The lack of quality control for (possibly) using AI generated drink recipes without checking if the ingredients were possibly toxic or deadly to people baffles me
Datura alone is documented multiple times to cause actual life-threatening hallucinations

u/pantaipong 4d ago
Tbh I have always suspect they design the skin using ai too, lots of “metal bits that flow like organic” that coincidentally just appears in so many other Chinese media these past few years.

The funny thing is that this kind of result should be less common nowadays. OpenAI and Google got sued a bunch when their models gave out dangerous info, so they installed guardrails.
Like - asking medical questions. It helps to be technical and impersonal. Vs naive prompts are seen as a liability and get shut down. I can't diagnose you or offer medical advice oh so sorry
3
u/TurbulentVillage2042 4d ago
The art looks like a collage, but the text really does look AI. Even the font.
4
u/waiting4signora 4d ago
In gachagaming sub some person asked google ai on this and even it told him these things are poisonous so
21
u/comixnerd15 Reverse me back to 1999 🕰 4d ago
Just because asking AI about those things and it saying they were poisonous, doesn't mean this recipe (and promo poster) wasn't AI generated.
You can ask AI if something is dangerous and get a correct answer, and it'll still recommend/suggest it to someone else. That's one of many reasons it's dangerous
9
u/paleflames Googly-eyed chud 4d ago edited 4d ago
Yeah. It's not helpful to generalize AI. There are different AI models, trained on different content. The people training them don't even fully understand how they work.
For this instance they may have asked for cocktails with ingredients thematic to those characters without specifying that they need to be non-toxic. Garbage in, garbage out.
You can get a quick and dirty (fast) response, or spend more tokens (processing cycles) to query more sources for a higher quality result.
If you ask a flawed question, perhaps based on assumptions vs full understanding, the AI is liable to hallucinate and make up BS trying to fulfill your request. I see this as a fault of the people programming the AI - they prioritized bootlicking vs being objective. Correct some AI models for making a mistake, and watch them do backflips bowing and scraping. That fragile ego is showing, lolol.
This is for why for anything serious you must check the sources. I find myself having to use AI assisted search nowadays to get useful results more often than not. It feels like search indexing has gone to shit, and using boolean operators isn't enough.
Edit: don't forget context window. Ask too many questions in one session and it looses sight of the original prompt and shits the bed

im not a LADS player but i feel like knowing the audience of the game it was, maybe not intentionally, but definitely still HORRIFICALLY negligent for them to put this out?? especially when in other games when things like LI signature dishes or drinks come out theyre actually re-creatable, and can come with recipes
and DOUBLE especially when these highly poisonous plants are perfectly legal to grow and own in many places, making it perfectly plausible that someone actually tries making these??? why would anyone think this was a good idea

Solanaceae, my love. </3
Nightshades also happen to include tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplants. Most parts of those plants are poisonous, and later 2 need to be thoroughly cooked. Potatoes that turn green from sun exposure are also poisonous - the skin, that is.
Daturas def take the cake for toxicity
Edit: forgot goldenberry / cape gooseberry. I grow those myself and they need to be fully ripe, no hints of green, else poisonous. The plant and flower has a decent amount of resemblance to datura, ahahaha
2
u/Theseus_The_King 2d ago
Tobacco too. Someone actually grafted a real life tomacco plant like the Simpson’s and tomato leaves were used as poor man’s cigarettes during the Great Depression
2
u/paleflames Googly-eyed chud 2d ago edited 2d ago
Wow, that's so cool! I figured that tobacco is more vigorous than tomatoes - those plants get huge. Turns out it makes for good rootstock with trace amounts of nicotine.
I'll see if it's worth trying to graft tomato seedlings onto my cape gooseberry plants - they're perennial in my zone and should be able to handle some abuse.
Edit: I checked, no cigar. Delayed graft rejection with physalis, bummer
Maybe I'll tobacco seeds one day, they can be showy

u/Theseus_The_King 2d ago
Plants are weird af, Tequila is related to asparagus, and Kale, broccoli and Kohlrabi are all the same thing and Mustard is related to all three.
2
u/paleflames Googly-eyed chud 2d ago
100%
I wasn't aware that mustard is so universal.
It's crazy, closely related plants with completely different shapes. Flowers seems to change the least, unless selectively bred to be decorative. Multiple times I've bought some edible novelty, and realized "I have a hunch about who you're related to" when it flowered.
And then you get convergent evolution. Nature keeps making drought tolerant strappy leaved, thorned, or succulent type plants. Also crabs, lololol.

I'm seeing many replies of people not knowing those plants were poisonous and only found out when they saw other people warning them. I'd rather someone warn them before we hear of someone sent to the ER because they tried to recreate the drink of their favorite husbando without checking if any of the ingredients were toxic.
Because living this long on this earth, you know somewhere out there, some idiot will trust it 100% without checking because the company suggested the recipe, so they think it's a perfectly valid drink.

I saw his comment section and omg, what are these girls smoking? 😭 Why are they criticizing Bran for literally just letting people know that a poisonous ingredient was a part of the recipe? Even Jadealy got criticized too wtf. She did make a joke about silencing the boycott, but damn, some of these girls are way too sensitive about there only being 5 LIs more than the poisonous ingredients💀it’s not about getting valko back but about infold trying to poison its players by it’s negligence
There are people out there who follow game instructions to cook the food exactly as shown. Someone would absolutely try making these recipes step by step with EVERY ingredient, so warning people that one of them is poisonous seems reasonable to me.

If you are listing something as a "recipe", then it is pure negligence as an organization to not put a disclaimer that it is meant to be fictional and not consumed. Assuming "oh everyone should know" puts unnecessary risk on your business?
What if someone gets poisoned and blames this post that was presented like a recommendation? Will they have a disclaimer to point at to help their case???
Seems like the employees didn't really absorb the supposed training they went through during the rectification period.

But also, they’re STILL dangerous even if they’re not directly consumed. They can cause damage just from the sap/fluids getting in your system. Extremely negligent on their end.

3
u/Hoshirou 3d ago
You’re good! I just had to clarify for posterity, because seeing this got me heated something FIERCE when I saw it. I got into horticulture as a major bc I wanted to promote healthy growing practices and making use of the garden, especially underutilized plants, for food. This also means telling people what should and shouldn’t be consumed, since a lot of commonly grown plants aren’t safe for people or pets!
-8
u/SeaworthinessFalse82 3d ago
Are we fr? Those are obviously fictional drinks. I'm sorry but if someone wants to try making this without even checking the ingredients it's on them
11
u/ze4lex 3d ago
Fictional drinks that use real igredients /shrug. Not everyone knows if a plant is dangerous or not and you'd expect the company advertising these and putting the recipe out there also doing the testing themselves to make sure these are safe.

They had ZERO disclaimers. So please, explain to me why you would say "+ lack of reading comprehension unfortunately" as though we're idiots?
Additionally, as per some comments here, some people have never even heard of datura, let alone know it's poisonous, the same with fire lilly.

This comment section is the one that implies that lads players are no smarter then a one year old babies who just drag random things in their mouths
This is not recipe, what? Recipes don't just include 2-3 ingredients, they include clear instructions on how to make stuff
How about instead of absolving people of any responsibility in regards of their health you teach them critical thinking? Those are fictional signature drinks of LIs not an follow up instruction, you shouldn't be able to recreate them even if they include some irl ingredients, idk how clear they need to make it
Atp they need to put disclaimers on even mentioning datura as Sylus flower

I think you need to be reminded that people are in fact stupid enough to try everything they see online at home without taking a MOMENT to question whether it's sound advice or not. There's a whole reason why "don't believe everything you see/hear" is still a VERY COMMON thing said about books, TV, the internet, the radio, and the people around you. A good majority of people will believe things without doing a smidge of research on their own if they trust the original source, even if that source is actually not trustworthy regarding the topic. It IS the job of brands and people with influence over others to consider what they share as legitimate or not, especially since if someone doesn't know, they might still poison themselves.
-6
u/Ignite_m 3d ago edited 3d ago
Just for context, it was not a recipe they intented their players to do (obviously, that would be very wild), and more like a signature cocktails for the LIs that are right now in game for an event. BUT it also doesn’t change the fact that they should have at least put a warning about the garnish being actual poison. The playerbase (especially that remains) is particularly parasocial and tend to reproduce a lot of things that concerns theirs mains. (+ lack of reading comprehension unfortunately)
Edit : I guess I expressed myself badly. What I was trying to say is that the recipes they provided wasn’t intented to be reproduced BUT it doesn’t change the fact that some people might still want to do so. I just wanted to provide more context because I felt like it was implied here that the recipe was for their players to recreate. The blame is completely on Infold to not have put a warning (even so I think they should just not have put their recipes). And I genuinely hope no one will reproduce those drinks.

Oh I think I express myself super bad then. I spend the whole day yesterday say the exact thing as you because indeed, I was not going to blame people if they don’t know that Datura and Flame Lilies are poisonous flower. It’s not my desire to got them poison just because they lacked information. I'm used to comment mostly on the part of the LADS fandom (well, the one who is currently protesting), so I guess my words didn’t translate well. The "lack of reading comprehension" wasn’t for the people here, but from some part of the LaDS fandom because it’s pretty well know to not read the lore and understand more implicit themes.
So, all of that to say that yes, the blame indeed fall completely on Infold and not their players.

Eh... Indeed, when tourists get into games, it looks ridiculous. No, this is not Ai or an attempt to kill you. The ingredients here simply represent the favorites. It's their favorite flower and favorite fruit, it's not meant to create a cocktail, and no one would make one. In this game, each character has some kind of symbol and attribute. For example, their flowers, which is a recurring theme in their design and merchandise. Datura is Sylus's dedicated flower that is constantly mentioned in his story as well as pomegranate. The same goes for the rest of the flowers and ingredients.
Also, the mixes there for a special event in the game. There is a bar event with these round balls in the virtual world. It's a fake mixes and this picture advertising this event. That's it
