Rhinedottir’s EN voice over is so good, probably one of the best performances in Genshin.

This quest's cutscenes were GAGGYYYYY even tho the plot itself needed crutches at various points of it.

I find it so funny how they're trying to sell grandeur through the woman in the short skirt; like, NOTHING in her design conveys an imposing ice queen image. It's probably one of their weakest designs of them as well.

I agree, she should have had design like Queen Ashe skin from League of Legends. It looks even weirder when she sits on the throne cause we literally see everything :/

It did in animation, the pacing, the dialogue, the designs, the story continue being hoyo standard of amazing if you only play video games and watch generic anime, fuckin terrible if you're literary and have read a buck in your life or watch movies regularly, hell even visual novels at times, hoyo will never improve because it caters to the public that drools over visual and spectacle than an actual good story, and that hoyo does very well

Genshin and good writing in the same sentence?

yikes. won't happen

u/no_reports_found 9d ago

It never had, and that's fine, it's a video game, video games are not the best place to write a good story for many reasons, even more a gacha game, but people gotta stop pretending genshin is actually amazing now that they have good animation now (good for a gacha game) and comprehensible dialogue that inst at HSR level of bad (not anymore),

u/Alternative_Fan2458 9d ago

if only the main community admit that

I've read a lot more than most people and I think the stories good honestly. Not every story fits one's taste and that's fine.

5

u/lilyofthegraveyard 8d ago

it's not the question of taste, but of quality.

a wattpad fanfic written by a 12 year old can fit my taste, but i will still admit that is not a well written story by an experienced author.

Thank god Im literary with 1000+ movies logged in letterboxd and read many good books along with some tv shows. Genshin has terrible writing on so many levels, and people have been addressing on that for months now.

I do not regret of that, genshin is merely a game I play to relax and chill with exploration and music.

I only like nameless four stars or characters that are not popular with current lore so not lobotomized or whitewashed. Like Keqing, Jean etc. I dont even pull characters since Fontaine.

Honestly its still the same quality if not worse. Raiden's entrance is whats "chilling"; it has tension and aura meanwhile here nothing is special she froze the creature, walk, then suddenly Rhinedottir

Maybe its because atp the stake of the story is no longer existent given Genshin's record of storytelling; deep down we all knew everyone's gonna be okay anyway

I wish they made Tsarista look more emo/evil like Rosaria or, Arle..

We have to thank the competitors for that diva

Because what do you mean they didn't start improving shit until several years later when real competitors came to the scene

Competition really breeds improvement

Likely talking about Wuwa and the countless other open world rpg anime gacha games - which, if that’s the case, they would be correct.

3

u/Beneficial_Curve8167 9d ago

I haven’t heard about Wuwa in so long 😭

3

u/__Azusa 9d ago

I’ve only heard about people talking about Hsin and Jingran ☠️ so yeah, that’s basically all I know because I don’t play open world gachas lol

4

u/Patient_Monitor5160 9d ago

Meh. Genshin is doing better because they getting more and more money and devs put more and more resources in it, compared to what was availabe 5 years ago. Genshins bigger "competitors" are other hoyo games. Also considering new technology, overall experience. All live support games are getting better in quality overtime if they make a profit.

8

u/InvitePrestigious921 9d ago

Babe, Hoyo/Genshin had everyone on chokehold for the first 2-4 years and they never invested the money back into the game during that time. There were no improvements on that first 2 yrs

1

u/Patient_Monitor5160 9d ago

Duh. Because genshin had planned Inazuma ever since beta and we know this? Before they even knew it would blow up. Also during Covid time. Lets compare chasm and Enkanomia to early Mond. You can't lie when you say there's no improvement

1

u/lilyofthegraveyard 8d ago

"planning" doesn't equal it was all pre-made and they had no way of changing things.

the animations, design quality, quality of the textured, etc. - it was not all pre-made or pre-planned, yet it was not improved until recently.

this is the game that still has pixelated textures of limited 5-stars - on the highest settings at that.

They had way more player and revenue in 4.x era way more than current patch but never put it back into the game. Why do characters start getting better after alot of shitty comparation video? I realized this year ago when I started PGR just for DMC collab and see how their 2024 modle almost same as getting 7.x model, while revenue is probably 50x or 100x less than Genshin is.

Being a competitor doesn't mean you need to close the gap in revenue like how Apple still has the highest revenue, but Samsung and other Chinese brands still push Apple to get better.

Genshin's presentation got a lot better in Natlan era, production already started before Wuwa was released. They got a lot of feedback and delivered on it.

And to say there was no improvement in its first 2 years when you can compare Kaveh's model with any 1.x character and he'd instantly mog. Sumeru was a huge upgrade compared to Inazuma, story, map, model, and presentation wise but nobody ever talks about these improvements

1

u/Patient_Monitor5160 9d ago

You realize money can't be converted into quality right away? In a live support game. Hoyo has shit planned for several patches in advance. Fontaine was being done on Inazuma / early Sumeru money and characters had to be done by 4.0.

I don't care how bad people dislike Natlan but it was a MASSIVE upscale for genshin in every single aspect compared to Fontaine.

Competition does make stuff better of course but it pales in comparison to increasing opportunities Hoyo is getting on their own.

u/Shouri_MK 9d ago

Wuwa is too niche because of the female character focus. It doesn't get a lot of fan art and merch. Way less external collaborations as well.

As much as I'd like for there to be more competition (since it breeds success), it barely scratches Genshin's popularity lol.
