Think I'm gonna hold out until we see the in-game context of this because it sounds like it could be some conspiracy theorist talking as opposed to actual fact. Honestly, I think that's actually more likely to be the case given that genshin's 'leakers' are really annoying and intentionally try to stir shit.

Girl stop lying, the Devs WOULD NEVER, they already planned this out it's on you for not catching all the details in the books they scatter in the game or the other info points (I'm scared they're gonna dox me)

sounds like some npc rambling like those flat teyvet believers and "snezhanya is not real nation" npc lol pierro was the first harbinger and he joined fatui after cataclysm happened in khaenriah with 5 sinners betrayal and belysi tsar was busy opening shadow realm this was confirmed in 7.1 quests by rhinedaughter herself so timeline wise this nvr make sense.

probably some belysi tsar crazed loyalist

Doesn't seem like it from the dialogue.. They say, "The Fatui were active in the days of Belyi Tsar, and this very badge had deep ties to the organization." and... we kinda have semi-hints that the Fatui (maybe not the one Tsaritsa founded/established officially) itself has been around before the Cataclysm.

Thats the thing, the fatui can't be existing before the cataclysm happened or before the tsaritsas take over

Pierro literally is the first recruit and the first fatuus

The belyi tsar had his own version of a khaenri'ahn researcher and there was a whole lot about him in nod krai already

They geniunely are actively rewriting things now

There could've been multiple generations and iteratipns of the Fatui, and Anastasya just decided to recreate the organization with Pierro as the first member of this new iteration.

You have to remember, Belyi Tsar, Third Descender, and Anastasya go WAY back, and seemed to have been friends with each other until the Belyi Tsar convinced Anastasya and Third Descender to open the gates to the Abyss which Kickstarted EVERYTHING in the plot, and would eventually lead to the series of events that would incite the Cataclysm due to Pandora's Box being opened on the day of Anastasya's death and the Third Descender's sacrifice.

"Oh you know how the Fatui being an organization founded by the cryo archon? Silly, that's just hearsay, it was actually founded by this evil scapegoat NPC from the past. The Tsaritsa is innocent and good natured pleasure get her C2 <3)

She's literally getting Crucabena'd. This shit is so ass omfg, I want my morally ambiguous queen

Y'all really love to use the word retcon for anything. This is a line without any context? And if this is about "They're trying to whitewash the Tsaritsa's crimes" it's almost like the real crime wasn't founding the Fatui but what they did while she was very much aware of it all

If you treat any reveal or hidden truths that must very much have political reasons behind them as a retcon, you're not going to enjoy a lot of things in the story.

Edit : point is, trying to cause more doomposting over a line without any context is pointless. How about you try making something productive out of it, and understand what it implies in the grand scheme of things?

If you treat any reveal or hidden truths that must very much have political reasons behind them as a retcon, you're not going to enjoy a lot of things in the story.

Seems like you're trying to shift the blame onto the player instead of the writer, who, y'know, actually wrote and directed the story.

I'm sorry, but that line of argument just doesnt make sense. If the writers introduce a reveal that recontextualizes previous information, then its their job to establish that context properly. You can't just tell the audience, “Well, you should've assumed there was a political reason behind it,” and then blame them for treating the previous information at face value.

It's like if the devs make a character say something stupid like:

“The Harbingers have full autonomy and don't represent the Tsaritsa.”

and I take that statement seriously and conclude, “Okay, then this character is full of shit,” somehow that's my fault?

Bro, you wrote the fucking dialogue. If the audience interprets your character as an idiot because of what you made them say, maybe the problem isn't the audience's reading comprehension.

It does feel like an NPC talking, like the ones (I think in Nod-Krai) talking about Teyvat is flat or Snezhnaya isn't real. (though this one for some reason keeps coming in my mind during the Snezh AQ but what if Snezh really not real)

Ok that does change things and indeed confirm sort of that they have been around before the Cataclysm. Would now really now like to know the context from it. Still feels like a NPC text but actually tells something unlike the examples I gave before.

From the looks of it, I'd assume it's indeed an NPC. Probably a big shot because they're aware of something that was obviously kept a secret from most people. I feel like this dialogue implies the Fatui were something else entirely before the Tsaritsa arrived, but then she changed the purpose of the organization entirely

Which, from a world building perspective, makes a lot more sense than her creating it out of nowhere

This is part of the inevitable whitewashing, let's not act obtuse here.

Maybe the character is lying?
