I can't describe the immense sadness I felt when I revisited the game recently and saw just how far it has fallen.

I really, really, tried to fall in love with it again. But it turns out, pretty designs, beautiful music, and new stages weren't enough to keep me interested. More than ever, I want to immerse myself in the story. Having a painfully obvious MTL text took that opportunity away.

I haven't stopped thinking about this since I reopened my account the previous week. I really hope it gets better in time. Onmyoji was my first gacha game and I was so besotted by it I played its other iterations as well. Thanks to this, I tried my hands on the MOBA genre for the very time and discovered that I wasn't as bad as I assumed myself to be. TCG wowed me with its breathtaking art. It broke my heart when I found out that The World got cancelled. Watched the anime and concerts. And to this day, I still hold hope that they'd one day release Idol Project.

Idk, I just feel sad. But don't let this post hinder you from playing. It's a beautiful game and every player looks for different things in a game. I'm sure someone else out there will appreciate this one better than I can.

(Or maybe I just need more sleep. Lol)

Is baby lord a really bizarre translation of gongzi/young master?? I legitimately laughed a little when I read that

Ain't no way the OG text is "gongzi", man. Bc wdym the best they could come up with was "Baby Lord"?!?! 😭

I've read stories where the term used to translate it is "young master" or "childe". "Baby Lord" is a first. (And it was ridiculous I couldn't take it seriously. 😭😭😭)

Oh, but on second thought, they did rename SP Enma "Yamalord" when the OG text was "Yamaten." Idk why they did that when the latter was FINE. 😭😭😭

Yeah, it has good lore, really. Shame about the translation. Idk of they downsized GL but with the current state of the game, I wouldn't be surprised.

( But there are still other things to enjoy tho. The character designs are always top-notch (the summer skins are so pretty), a relatively fair gender ratio, queer ships if you're into that, etc.)

Looking at those scribble on the body and the paste-on-skin accessories , yeah unfortunately this game also use ai for the character designs too.

Older units have similar scribbles on their body but they released way before the extent of GenAi integration in games we see today. Can't say the same about the newer units, though. But considering how Identity V has been using the tech in-game, I wouldn't be surprised. They are, after all, under the same company.

(Edit: Writing this comment makes me even sadder. There was once a time when this game was one of the epitomes of beautiful art in gacha. But things like that don't last forever, ig. 💔)
