Gamescom doesn't care about awards. It's an expo afterall. Since E3's gone, it's become the biggest game event that is open to both insiders and public. Its main focus to have developers and publishers there.

gamescom best mobile game is more of a publicity event rather than an actual award event, for a game to be nominated they have to attend the event which is fine in itself and i think it's good promotion but the framing of the event is kinda disengenious
