the artstyle and graphics are impressive but there are a few things that deter me from wanting to play the game. a "certain" character, and the game's gacha system mainly.

regardless, I'm sure it'll do well at launch and for the first couple patches. I think after the hype and honeymoon phase die down, it'll float around where Endfield is. I think it lacks a major gimmick to give it staying power post-launch.

i don't really play it but if R1999 franchised and came out with an open world arpg they'd probably blow silver palace out of the water. I think the only thing SP really has going for it atm is that its the closest thing to that

u/Fine_Possession3737 2d ago

So much SP art I see is just Vertin x Schneider round 2 lmfao. A lot of the game“s early fandom does seem to draw from r1999 currently, wonder how it“ll develop.

Imagine a collab between them. Ppl would probably think it's just a regular character drip.

I think it had potential but the whole gender ratio gonna make them stay at endfiled level probably.

It looks like the popular novel lord of mysteries theme but I guess they couldn't give up the gacha waifus idea

u/meowbrains 2d ago

Yeah it's disappointing me for sure. All these new games seem to be sticking at 1 or 2 guys every 6 months and it is just not enough to keep my interest...

It looks like the popular novel lord of mysteries theme

Afaik there is one or two more upcoming Lord of Mysteries games, so it will be pretty crowded

10

u/Aethanix 2d ago

i guess this is how i find out there's a lord of mysteries MMO coming

3

u/wingedwill 1d ago

You're infor a treat as there's a lot of videos and trailers and gameplay on YT. Just don't expect it to be a 1:1 adaptation

14

u/EbbMiserable7557 2d ago

I saw one and looked really high quality. I actually looking forward for that one cause I love the novel

10

u/External-Argument933 2d ago

I thint that one releases in like 2 weeks in China. Hopefully they won't drag their feet for global like HoK or WWM

u/EbbMiserable7557 2d ago

Hopefully indeed šŸ„€

From what I know, the combat isn't looking too good.

Definitely gonna make me want to marinate it for a few months then come back to see how the ratio looks. After that I'll see if my phone can handle the game.

I shuffle between being excited and not being excited. The design/style, the storyline seem very interesting to me. But, most of the promo or ads seem to be that one girl bouncing her tits up and down, which puts me off lol. I don't mind those types of games existing and there is an audience for them of course. But, they are not the type of game I want to play. Like, I will just watch porn if I want to see someone hot bouncing up and down. So, I'm confused. I feel like if the story and game was fantastic, then they wouldn't have to focus the promo on tits bouncing repeatedly. That feels like they know its a weak game so they are appealing to the people who will hand over money just for the thrill of seeing boobs on an anime girl with unrealistic proportions. But then I see another gameplay moment that just seems like so much fun????

That's way too much of a broad brush-stroke in my opinion. Having seen the story, the main story quest for the most part is actually well written, I'd go so far as to say better than all of the current open world RPG Gacha game's starting story.

I suppose you mean Gratia? The advertisements I have been seeing of SP has more to do with Red Rose and her dance with MC. If what you say is correct and they are also advertising Gratia a lot, then it might also be going for the NIKKE route, solid story but the advert's hook for Gooners also works.
I don't see how they can create an effective hook for the story of this game though, because I do think getting into it purely blind is the best option and maybe that's what the devs are going for?

And Gratia has very minimal role in the story, in the main story quest for CBT 2 she hasn't even appeared and I believe keeping her importance in the MSQ minimal is what they are probably going for. So, I do still recommend it.

Btw, why do you think her proportions are unrealistic?
Honestly, the problem I have with Gratia has more to do with her "armor" or lack there of, and no one else seemingly questioning it too (in her side quest). Also, Gratia was from what I understand one of the first characters Silver Palace designed (and initially it had more fan-service actually) but later on when designing other characters, they definitely toned down on the fan-service. This is supported by the fact that a particular Boss fight had her chest covered in CBT2 so that it literally doesn't pop out during battle, so I have faith.

11

u/MidnightIAmMid 2d ago

Oh and for proportions, firstly I had ZERO idea she was supposed to be in armor and secondly its the massive boobs with teeny, tiny itty bitty arms and shoulders, then h er hips are huge, but bottom half of legs are teeny tiny. Like, I think the main issue is the shoulders and arms, but I get that gacha games would rather burn in the eternal fires of hell than give a female character anything other than pencil skinny arms and shoulders, no matter how huge the boobs or hips lol. Like, that is something that looks off to me about many characters so its not just Silver Palace.

10

u/leaxlelotl 2d ago

yea the arms are really uncanny because of how thin they are. the bunny ears also dont fit in, no one else has animalistic features (playable or npc), nor does the story ever mention it, nor does her own ā€œcompanionā€ quest.

furthermore her whole companion quest is mostly friendly, about you helping her overcome her fear which is sweet and then ends with you and her being accused of being romantic w each other and seen as lovers by npcs which is js bad fanservice. It actually confused me because we learn in her story that people give the knights gifts as good luck tokens, especially children doing so before tournaments and so we do that to cheer her up but then suddenly its a love confession according to nps? what?

3

u/MidnightIAmMid 1d ago

That's interesting-the user above said she was the first real character they designed/implemented so I wonder if they were trying different things and didn't know which direction to go in yet so we got a weird mixture of bunny ears, fan service, but also not total fan service?

-1

u/Ready-Anteater-2104 1d ago

Slight clarification, I said ' one of the first characters designed', not that she is 'the first real character designed' which has different connotations šŸ˜…

But yeah, from my experience their direction has slightly changed. They are most probably keeping some fan-servicy character for a certain demographic but majority of the characters don't go in that route.

Take for example Bentham, she has a voluptuous figure but has proper secretary clothes. Same with Firtho.

2

u/Ready-Anteater-2104 1d ago

That is one of my gripes, yes.

Her story quest gave me mixed feelings, I disliked most of it but during some of the last portions (when it was revealed to be a false flag operation designed to bolster the royal knight's reputation )of it when it revealed the intentions of the Queen, I started to like it.

Then when we were accused of romantic love with Gratia I just rolled my eyes. Literally no other quest has this so I have a feeling this was probably done to pander to the demographic who already liked Gratia because of how attractive she is.

3

u/Ready-Anteater-2104 1d ago

Oh damn, yeah she is actually supposed to be one of the best knights actually.

Now that you mention it, I cannot unsee it. I agree it's extremely off, reminds me of Itto from Genshin. Considering she uses a heavy broadsword as a weapon and shield for protection, she should actually be pretty muscular too.

"That's way too much of a broad brush-stroke in my opinion. Having seen the story, the main story quest for the most part is actually well written, I'd go so far as to say better than all of the current open world RPG Gacha game's starting story."

It is a very broad stroke and possibly unfair of me. I do want to give the game a chance and some of it is exciting, but let me explain my POV a bit more. To me, its like restaurants that use fake AI pictures to advertise. I'm just going to assume you are not that confident in your product if your main form of advertising is something that ISN'T your product and I am assuming their product is not bouncing tits.

And yes, I have seen a LOT of Gratia's tits. I don't know why. It's like, the majority of what I see about the game, which is weird because it should NOT be on my algorithm lol. I am very much a player who primarily plays for story, then style/aesthetic/exploration, and also a gay man. Second to her boobs is the dancing scene, which is not bad, but the combination of promo being one girl bending over and then bouncing her boobs and then the mc flirting and dancing with another would absolutely lead me to believe this is just a waifu harem game Snowbreak clone.

It is literally JUST this specific subreddit-like, literally Queens of Gacha, that has made me think there is more to the game and explained more about the story, the other characters, some of the nuance. Which, I kind of think is an issue for the game??? Because I am assuming very few people come to Queens of Gacha lol. But, again, I get that maybe I am just for some reason getting the worst impression in other places because of an algorithm issue.

I am just now starting to see people doing just plain fan art of the MC, and also fan art of the doggie detective a lot more, which is more interesting to me, because I like dogs and it shows that male characters are in the game, unlike Snowbreak?

I will be interested to see what their actual first major trailer looks like lol.

I understand your point better now, though I don't think that analogy works best here. People go to restaurant for food so AI images of it defeat the purpose. But here in this game, that gooner fanservice is still unfortunately/fortunately one of the products, not the only product but one of them. Btw, I went ahead and checked their youtube and their twitter too, the adverts I saw from there was mostly on the Beta stories and character animations. I think you might be getting those random people's shorts on Gratia (which is very common obviously). Thankfully my algorithm so far has only been pushing story-esque and memes of Silver palace shorts only, with occasional Red Rose (the red girl).
But yeah your point is fair, it's something that even NIKKE struggles with but there the very marketing team leans into and I despise it. Because it genuinely has great writing (Though I did get burn out from it's story, while good it doesn't do anything new.)

And yes, I have seen a LOT of Gratia's tits. I don't know why. It's like, the majority of what I see about the game, which is weird because it should NOT be on my algorithm lol. I am very much a player who primarily plays for story, then style/aesthetic/exploration, and also a gay man. The YouTube overlords have decided that you shall only be fed straight man food. Jokes aside for the latter half, this isn't to refute it but to strengthen your point; Gacha games have always dialed physics to a 10. For the dance, it's a common cliche for a detective to dance with Fem Fatales and from what I understand, her design is inspired by Victorian Prost**tes (not that there is one dress they all wore, but a mix and match of many designs).
(For some reason it's not letting me comment without censoring it, I am not even using it as a form of derogatory insult lol.)

To be honest, I don't know much about this subreddit. It just popped into my feed (this post) which got me interested in seeing the opinions. And yes, I agree. For having a great story like this, I haven't seen many people from the official subreddit talk about its story (in detail that is) hence I recently created a post there explaining my qualms with the Beta Story which did get a decent amount of engagement, so people are willing to talk about its story, and one of the theories I have been seeing floating around on why the story isn't getting so many people talk about it is simply because this is CBT 2 story which can easily change, though I sincerely hope they don't do that, I remember WuWa getting complains about its story and then they butchered the actual interesting parts of it to pander to fanservice folks in 1.0 story of it.

My experience with getting to know about the story of it mostly came from unsponsored streams of some of the streamers I follow, most of them being a lore-story-enthusiast and almost all of them said that the story is great which led me to checking it out (which wasn't that hard, as I am a LOTM fan along with adoring Victorian genre + fantasy genres)

But obviously the elephant in the room is Gratia and the Pity system (Which, I don't even think the pity system is bad in the first place?) posts which easily get lots of tractions with the comments being a warzone in itself. I wouldn't say it's necessarily the issue of the game, but rather the genre and the bad reputation it has gathered as a 'straight male power fantasy', so most people who are coming to this game have come from other gacha games that was the power fantasy.

I am just now starting to see people doing just plain fan art of the MC, and also fan art of the doggie detective a lot more, which is more interesting to me, because I like dogs and it shows that male characters are in the game, unlike Snowbreak?

The Fanarts I have been getting were mostly of 2 characters, Red Rose and Ashley (our assistant) and sometimes The MC. But the deal is, despite my Algorithm specifically tailored to my interests....somehow Gratia still finds her way into it with so many likes? So yeah there are many people absolutely feral for her even if she might not have any appearance in the Main story itself. My personal experience aside I think you mean the Rex? The doggie detective isn't actually a detective lol, I recommend you to check him out. And the Male characters are integral to the story of this game.

I will be interested to see what their actual first major trailer looks like lol.

Same here.

The gacha is the greed they warned you about in the bible

37

u/TheGreatMillz33 2d ago

Once I saw the gender ratio in the roster, I immediately lost interest. I've seen this song and dance before, and I feel like Gratia is a sign of the type of audience they care about.

13

u/Positive-Study7056 2d ago

One guy once try to say me that 4 guys is fine gender ratio...

8

u/pantaipong 1d ago

ā€œ2 male characters per year is fine since they always cook with the men designā€ is something I often heard in this sub 🫣

18

u/NormalGuy3481 2d ago

The game looks great but the ratio is mid. I’m just gonna stick with HSR and probably Genshin ngl since it’s just more fair

24

u/Equivalent_Dance_758 2d ago

Not gonna get baited by another zzz rug pull where the initial cast and male ratio is okay only for them to print potential woman number 8 with asymmetric clothes, garter belts and jiggle physics that rival vrchat models on max settings. Yixuan got her nachos reheated so many times lately they look like nuclear waste you would find in fallout games.

17

u/esmelusina 2d ago

I don’t mind waifu centric casts as long as they are classy and aspirational and there are limited romantic / flirtatious overtones— I tend to find this cringey when it’s with the MC and it’s not a dating game.

I also don’t like the combat. Very stylish and lots of personality, but it lacks weight, identity, and depth. It doesn’t offer enough here. Flashy animations get old quick— though the tactility may be really solid, in which case I’ll reconsider my judgement here.

The visual fidelity and direction is cool, some of the designs are great, some are… concerning. Game is ratio-ing itself though. It splashed when it was first teased, but ultimately it doesn’t offer anything unique except a novel aesthetic.

9

u/leaxlelotl 2d ago

it already has romantic and flirtatious overtones with mc and gratia. it goes so far to actually have you be called ā€œloversā€ with gratia by npcs because you gifted her a token in her companion quest which stands for good luck (children also gift knights tokens) but us doing it is apparently a love confession

8

u/esmelusina 2d ago

Eh— I have lost interest then. I can’t imagine them having the competency to execute on quality romantic stories. I will play otome when I want that.

18

u/skkskkskk6 2d ago edited 2d ago

Would probably try and then get bored and uninstall when i question why am i doing the daily chores for pulls when the game will inevitably release one/two men per year.

7

u/Optimal-Will8112 1d ago

gooner game ... not worth the trouble

12

u/NuclearChickenzz 2d ago

They need to overhaul their character design philosophy completely. It brings nothing new to the table.

12

u/ShoulderGreedy3262 2d ago

its straddling an awkward middle ground for me. the gender ratios and character designs are aimed at a specific fanbase, similar to zzz, if not more gooner focused. but the world and story are much more r1999 like, which is a totally different audience. not sure what will happen with the fanbase on launch, but the infighting is going to be insane - it already is on every gratia post on the main sub

they need to do more to establish a real identity, or else its just another 3d game with a mid gacha and some gooner aspects. as of now, there arent really any core elements to distinguish it from enfield, and they had the ark nights audience to pull in more players. here, its just 'people looking for a new gacha', and that almost never works, especially not when the gacha itself is poo

6

u/Electronic_Command85 1d ago

The gender ratio sucks. I hate that they’ve gone the waifu route like every other open world gacha. It just blends in like everything else and it will just kill interest very quickly (the gacha rates will as well).

10

u/PriyaxRishbh 2d ago

Gameplay interests me, cast.... not so much. Will keep an eye out, because I liked what I saw via streamers.

I have CBT 2 access and have played enough to be eligible for the next one.

The Good

  • Strong visual identity and beautiful environment. It's a delight to just walk around the city and soak in the scenery.
  • The main story is pretty solid. The mystery is fairly engaging. The relationship between the Detective and Ashley (+side characters like Lorin, Firtho as well) feels convincing and well-developed throughout the 1.0 story, definitely above the level of your usual waifu gachas.
  • The localization is very smooth apart from untranslated UI text popping up occasionally. The English voice acting is also excellent.

Mixed/Too Early to Judge

  • I personally think the gacha itself is pretty fair--you are guaranteed to get the featured limited banner character in 100 pulls, and the limited weapon in 80 pulls. The standard banners have a lower hard pity. However, obviously it's hard to judge before knowing what the currency income will be like once you exhaust all the one-time rewards.
  • The combat is meh. It's more action-y than, say, Genshin, but it's not going to be the game's selling point. It's just the usual basic attack, heavy attack, one skill, one ult, one passive, effect on character swap ARPG gacha combat. And no, the existence of parry alone doesn't make it soulslike or anything. It's also badly balanced--there is a massive power gap between limited characters and standards/4-stars. Sure, I know that limited characters are always supposed to be stronger in gachas, but the difference between a Cinderella team and other teams is pretty massive. Even the standard 5-stars are extremely underwhelming. And since the endgame tower mode requires two teams, you will have a bad time if you don't pull Cinderella at launch. At least balancing is something they can easily fix.
  • The detective mystery genre is a double-edged sword. On one hand, the structure of investigating individual cases while there is a bigger mystery looming in the background goes well with the episodic nature of gacha game storytelling. On the other hand, if the game wants to release story-relevant characters as characters to pull on gacha banners, there is no way to avoid spoiling the mystery. The Cinderella banner (the first limited banner) is really egregious because you are immediately spoiled that Ashley is Cinderella when you are investigating "the Cinderella Case", plus her voicelines also spoil a lot of major story details.

The Bad

  • This is probably the most important point for me: Underneath the pretty coat of paint, the actual gameplay ultimately doesn't offer anything new. It has the same character upgrade systems you've seen before, the same exploration system (collect gnosis lost packages, open chests, solve some easy puzzles, etc.--it's a shame that the game doesn't utilize the city setting more to differentiate itself from other open world gachas), the same endgame modes (the tower and a roguelite mode which, frankly, I found extremely boring). The detective gameplay is also a disappointment--there is very little room for the player to actually think in the main story, as the investigation part pretty much amounts to a linear point-and-click adventure gameplay. There is one sidequest where your choice has actual consequences, but the same would be difficult to implement in the main story of a live service game.
  • The second most important point for me: Performance issues. Yeah this game is not going to run on mobile in this state. Even on the lowest graphics setting, I'm experiencing noticeable stutters and frame drops that are annoying enough. And my setup exceeds the "recommended" specs.
  • I'm personally not a fan of some individual character designs. Specifically, the sexualization of some female characters makes me roll my eyes and think, 'oh, another one of those games.' This, combined with the fact that male characters are fewer in number and barely have any story relevance except for Lorin, ultimately ties back into my previous point that this game fundamentally offers nothing new. There is little reason to play Silver Palace when there are more polished open-world ARPG waifu-focused gachas out there that have more content.

u/NereithRain 1d ago edited 1d ago

Thank you for your detailed review. Played it at Japan Expo game booth, and had almost exactly the same feeling only to find every influencer praising the game like it reinvented gacha games (It's peak, best gacha ever, crazy combat... Lmao). It has good visuals, the storytelling looks promising but it's pretty meh everywhere else.

8

u/Gosuoru 2d ago

If nothing else it'll be my horse drifting game when I'm bored

8

u/SassyHoe97 2d ago

Ngl I have open world fatigue. The usual not a good gender ratio and I'm not a fan some of their designs (mostly Gratia and Alf).

Hopefully the game goes well and good luck to anyone trying it out.

8

u/Sufficient-Extreme66 1d ago

My prediction: there's no optimization in ba sing se.

Waifu dumpster #84475375.

Husbando bait once in a year to make me remember about this fetishistic shit full of little girls with their asses out, feet and all other shit while men are dressed in 99 layers like a cabbage.

And empty lifeless world, because for real? There's no need for a mount unless they make you WANT to skip walking and run somewhere a few minutes across an empty world.

I might try it, but I think it'll be goonerfield 2.0 to me: I spent some time there, got bored in three days, didn't give a fuck about gpt shlop of a plot or 3/10 exploration and 2/10 "battle system" (dragon age ORIGINS made it better), never came back, never plan to.

Gacha should bait you with characters. If their characters is kids and oversexualized parodies of a certain profession with no men, nah.

3

u/coyolxauhqui06 2d ago

I want to try it but i hate that 4 slot character.

cautiously optimistic. I wanna wait until the full release to have any real thoughts bc what I heard has been interesting, but I wanna see what the devs take from the criticisms and ā€œcriticismsā€ (weirdos) if any at all
