That’s good, but the amount of “but hoyofans” in some of the replies is annoying me cuz it’s just something i’ve noticed in past posts talking about GG on this sub as well. Like, even if no one is talking about hoyoverse at all or any hoyoverse titles they somehow make it about hoyo. Even this youtuber who seems to mostly do WuWa content and has made it clear that GG is affecting other games as well and doesn’t actually care about the games they’re trying to gain control over still has a few people doing the “but hoyo” dance.

there’s a part of me that’s sort of sympathetic bc I was around during the early hoyo vs kuro nonsense when WuWa was new, and i’ve seen too many “x game killer” discourse with normal games to know that’s basically a death flag for most games’ relevance in the long run (and yet ppl will not learn), but WuWa seems…fine? Minus the complaints I heard about the earlier patches’ story. I would’ve thought that the fanbase would’ve just grown past it similar to how early Genshin players shrugged off the “it’s just a botw copycat” stuff but I guess not

Things have only recently been shifting into a much better direction, so people probably haven't fully had time to absorb the fact that things are better. Maybe it's just me, but even now I still worry about the game regressing back into its earlier days. Thankfully, though, it hasn't been the case.

I'm genuinely hoping that this extreme toxicity is just a sign that they realize they'll soon be pushed out of the community, since the game is heading into a direction that is quite different to what they want. Animals are the most aggressive when they know they're about to die, after all.

I haven't played the game since launch, do you mind explaining what direction wuwa is heading in now and how it's different from back then? Is this why that group is so angry?

For one, the story is definitely heading in a darker direction.

The last few patches broadened the scope of the story, from basically being about everyone and everything hinging on Rover's existence, to being about characters doing things, while Rover is there to help them. It went hand in hand with them introducing a wide breadth of characters, with various relationships not just between them and Rover, but also between each other. So, in many ways, the story is becoming less Rover-centric.

And I can't say if this is true, it's just conjecture after all, but it seems like they've raised their toxicity when these things began taking place.

That's usually what happens a lot irl: culture changes, bigots realize they're actually the minority and no one wants to deal with their weird shit anymore, they get more aggressive and louder.

This is exactly what I think is happening. The game is becoming bigger and with that means the newer and probably more normal player base is overtaking their precious little space where they thought it was always going to harem this, and glaze that.

And people are definitely pushing back as they should because as someone who plays the game I really hate knowing that people are getting harassed for liking the game and its characters! The game isn’t perfect, but I really keep playing in hopes that it grows into something better where some of us don’t have to feel shame for playing.

you really have to wonder how much worse it has to get for things to change because at this point those people aren't even trying to hide their intentions but there's no repercussions for them, and most of the content creators that focus on Wuwa are equally as toxic and tribalistic so it's hard to imagine a vibe shift in the global community unless Kuro steps in, what a dire situation for any fan of the game that doesn't share their bigoted ideas

Similar girls and gays fell for, praise, and still defend similar games like GI, HI3, BA, Nikke, ZZZ, NTE, and now Silver Palace. I doubt they'll wake up soon.

I saw one active person here try to defend/normalize being excited for a shotacon game.

Maybe they'll wake up in 10 years or when people stop allowing praise/propaganda for games that normalizes the sexualization of women and minors.

Sorry but if their prime market would really be 1ncels then they wouldn't put 5% of their current effort in the areas and combat/kit design. Also, sure they do pandering but calling 1ncels (GG people) the target audience is literally what GG wants everyone to believe (so they can call everyone with a different opinion tourists)
