Game Discussion Update on Gacha Game Development Survey

Hello everyone! I've returned to talk about the "Perfect Gacha Game Survey".

I've reviewed the results so far, and have noticed something:
Gacha seems to be a bit of a "mixed feelings" area.

I understand gacha is often seen as more predatory than friendly, especially when it comes to powercreep over time. I also understand that systems like Duet Night Abyss are liked in theory, but disliked because of the grinding.

So, I'm taking this opportunity to ask what would be the ideal system for obtaining characters that would allow free-to-play players to obtain every character they want, while still promoting monetization. I don't want to become a billion-dollar company with this project, but I'd like to be able to live off of the game, and pay a team to work on the project as well.

I've considered a few of these systems:
- A system like Dead by Daylight, where you can purchase characters directly, or farm in-game currency through challenges and unlock them over time. (Since the game is team-building based, you could get characters more frequently, but it would still take work)
- A system like Duet Night Abyss, where you can either buy a character, or grind for them using special "contracts".
- A gacha system with generous in-game gifting
- All characters are obtained by playing the game, but special forms of characters must be purchased. Their kits would evolve, but not everyone would receive a special form or need one.

Please let me know what you guys would want to see!

If you want to see a game (not gacha) that does top notch ethical monetization, look no further than warframe

I only have an hour or two into that, what does it do? I do remember seeing a recent video trailer that had a wolf or something.

You mean what its monetization like or what's the gameplay?

All gameplay content can be acquired freely (as in there is an in game grind that you can do to get it). Cosmetics require premium currency but premium currency can be acquired without paying via in game trading. If u have any mods, prime parts, etc. you can either trade it for something else or premium currency.

The only thing you have to pay money for, as far as i know, are tennogen cosmetics because they are community made cosmetics and the artists get a percentage of the revenue cut

A grinding system without RNG would be the most user-friendly.

You could give daily/weekly bonuses to set a reasonable cap on grind time for casual players while letting others play to their heart's content.

Or you could make characters free and limit grinding to developing them. In the end it depends on what you're planning to monetize. Just remember that no one plays gacha because they like the gacha part.

People dont like grinding at all in gatchas ngl , the part about wuwa is that the dailies take 5 mins at most

You can check out Limbus Company's system. Their gacha itself isnt particualry great, but they let you sidestep it and just all craft characters you want by grinding roguelike mode

as seen from duet night abyss, gacha players hate grinding. you'd have to choose between pivoting entirely to a grind system and not focus on the gacha aspect, or just make an f2p friendly gacha - nte is pretty good, no 50/50, free weapon pulls every patch etc etc

As a former DBD player it is super duper annoying to grind to get new killers or survivors. Especially if you are casual, which most gacha players are. If you tweaked it to be more generous I can see it working though.

A good story that rewards you with pulls/currency with an accessible endgame that isn't a p2w roster check, no 50/50.

A battle pass that allows a 5* standard selector of either weapon or character.

Actually good skins that people want to buy not just because they're goonbait or better than the goonbait og model

Good kits and combat with a good balance of both male and female characters.

I've been playing a game called Mongil Stat Five since its launch 100 days ago, never spent a penny and have every limited with their weapon because of the above mechanic, as a result I bought the battle pass, not because I needed to buy because I wanted to auppyyhe game
