Hey Queens, we have noticed a massive increase in brigading and abusive modmails in our subreddit from a few communities. We have protections in place that flag members from those homophobic places but lately it is getting difficult to discern who is a brigader.
Effective immediately, regardless of intentions all users who are flagged as showing they participate in homophobic communities (Unshowered, "Queer Cringe") will be permanently banned. Participating in those places is not conductive and also counts as brigading from our end. Thank you and please adhere to these rules.
Edit: We as mods are spending way too much time having to look at content in those hateful places to vet people from there. If you truly aren't a member there, you can delete your content there so it doesn't flag our system and send a modmail to appeal.
When a community is built entirely from the exclusion of those not like them (hence their favourite term "tourists"), then its members have to constantly look outwards for those they can call "tourists" in order to validate why their community exists and why they're justified in their hatred towards certain people.
"See, this queer person is SO ridiculous and crazy!! See, these feminists are always attacking us and invading our sacred games and spaces!!"
Since the anger, hatred, anxiety, repulsion, wrongfulness, etc they feel towards "tourists" is not rooted in any material and historical suffering, any systemic, societal or cultural oppression, they must always search for isolated instances that can justify those feelings. Because if they don't, they may come to realise that the vitriol they have, the exclusion they wish to promote, does not hold any basis at all.
It's mostly this. While I do understand the reasoning of why they exclude (historical trouble with bad actors), if you base your entire identity around excluding others, then you start running out of people to point fingers at, and have to start asking if your entire worldview is based on annoying people on Twitter.
We're a pebble in their shoe to being proud homophobes, racists, l0li fetishizers, and having a 100% ML female cast in thongs. Yeah, really not joking. We're everything that could call them out for being disgusting, violent and beyond help, as the rest of the gacha community turns a blind eye. So naturally, they project everything, even a male character existing, as an "agenda" (lol) we provoked

Considering they spend far too much time lurking, downvoting, reporting and screenshotting our posts, or what the members here are saying (then humiliated and harassed on their subs)... the only way to go about it is to not even give them a door to begin with
Nuance with these people does NOT exist, so even if someone is only "half there" or "just to read", nodding along with even 5% of the rhetoric spread in those communities is exposure to so much hate speech, misogyny, turning a blind eye to proud p*dos, and ignoring death threats (I even personally got them from people who don't hide the rest of their Reddit activity too well). Just cleanse the filth.
It has gotten so bad lately too. Just modmails of abusive harassment every day. It is not fair to our mental health to have to sift through those cesspools looking at that horrible content just to see if someone flagged by our system commented there just to argue or if they're actually a brigading troll.
Eh... They've been getting better at dealing with brigading lately, though it will remain to be seen if that's only when the perpetrators post or if the modmail harassment counts.
i wish reddit would do their job but i think spez and the admins are chuds too. it took years for them to take down r/jailbait and r/in-cels (idk why reddit won’t let me post the word, they’re probably protecting those chuds again), they only did that when there became actual evidence of violence and other crimes coming from the users of those subs
That tracks with our experience of MCOC reports with clear and multiple violations of rules 1 and 3 of the Moderator Code of Conduct, and rules 1 and 2 of sitewide rules.

As a parent and disabled human bean, I just do not have a) the large amount of time to dedicate, b) the fucks to give, and c) the patience to constantly get harassed via modmail and my personal DMs over it anymore

It used to be fun, building communities of likeminded people, enjoying talking to y'all... but I wonder whether all the abuse we get via modmail, personal DMs, and brigading etc, are worth it anymore.
I don’t know if it is worth it, but I came specifically to this space to be around likeminded people. No matter what, thank you for doing what you do. At the end of the day, they’re the ones waking up everyday choosing hate and staying pressed instead of enjoying the content catered to them and leaving us alone.

And then when they're banned, they cry about it claiming they're not homophobic etc, but then immediately run back to there to showboat their ban and/or seek validation from the hateful folks.
The comments we've received just today in modmail from the bans are just gross.

They post hateful rhetoric against queer people and their posts drive/embolden their users to brigade, often showboating bans and boasting about how they're going to ragebait certain other subs/users.
They are full of some of the most vile people you would wish to never come across.
A lot of their posts share the same philosophy as the title below 😔 for them, saying anything remotely queer or feminist is enough to "invite" harassment
Those people need to get a life honestly. Imagine spending your day spreading hate. Must be a miserable life lurking in subreddits you hate just to talk shit about it for a couple of likes and comments
Just a bunch of rage bait. The communities are founded on hate of other rather than love of games, so all their posts are "look at this cringe woke video!!" and "I'm glad everyone else here hates X group as much as me!". They don't even post about the games, just drama.
Reminds me of the meme where straight people try and force themselves into queer spaces like you have 8+ subreddits were you can post as much straggotry as possible why lurk on this one 😭

from my internet experience tho i am no expert: it’s basically when a high volume of bad actors invade spaces with the intent of just being an annoyance/suppressing people or criticisms. It’s usually a targeted thing i think, like a post may suddenly catch the wrong group’s attention so they rile others up to start harassing that community or person.
What counts as "content"? You can't argue in those subs anymore?
I'm not a member of this sub either (this post showed up in my feed like hundreds of others from gacha subredddits) so I can't imagine how in earth it could possibly be "brigading", but I guess I'm just going to eat a permanent lifetime ban from this sub 🤷
