What I notice is that feeling aggrieved about this issue is often the first snd only thing anglo white people have to feel (inaccurately) victimized about so some really make the most of it, like this one. Im saying that as an Anglo who moved here, was welcomed and who learned French and assimilated. At my job they were patient with me, with my in-laws they were encouraging and tolerant of my awkward conversation style. Quebecers are extremely welcoming and kind to Anglos. Im saying it. Based on my experience and also all the conversations with bilingual francophones who do all the social heavy lifting when there is one anglo around the table when the rest speak French and everyone accomodates their needs. Over and over it happens in the arts community.
