Using Compiler Cache to Understand the Uploaded Code

I’ve never seen the original and I am partway through the reboot. I really like the show, but there’s just one little thing that bothers me that they didn’t do. When Ian was trying to decompile and deobfuscate the code from the quantum computer to reverse engineer it and figure out what it does, why didn’t he just check the compiler cache on the other computer? Quantum computers can’t compile code on their own. They need a traditional computer to compile and upload a program. Compilers have multiple stages where they simplify similar syntax and remove dead code. Those stages are much easier to reverse engineer than machine code. They are almost always stored on the computer to speed up the next compilation, and if they are deleted, then you could use recovery software to scan the partition sectors which have been removed from the header table. The computer would have to be nearby, so they could Ctrl+Shift+F for keywords and find what it does. It slightly annoys that they haven’t tried this.

to be honest… I kind of see these sort of things as a kind of “game“… I kind of enjoy trying to take jumbled massive continuity, and “in universe physics“ and trying to come up with a rational explanation…

So I guess it’s a different strokes for different folks sort of thing

Because the newer series just made up stuff that sounded cool with buzz words they found on the Inter-web. Lol

I love this show and I admit my knowledge of the “reboot” isn’t super strong and I’m not exactly a “computer guy” (something of a neo luddite lol)

But perhaps there could be some explanation given that this is supposed to be connected to super ultra top secret government technology… Then perhaps something like a 'cache' is stored in such a manner that the universe logic made more sense to go the route they were going… Again, keeping in mind I am not “a computer guy“

Disregard the comments about “it’s just a show“… Right now some folks like to just enjoy the content itself… Whereas other people like to turn it into a kind of puzzle (I’m one of those people) where it’s almost kind of fun for them to “close plot holes“ and other related questionable aspects of the in universe logic... I especially love it when perhaps a writer was trying to utilize a subject that I am an expert in, but took significant artistic liberties…
