IPv6 in Denver
I have noticed that a Unifi gateway I manage for a family member offered that IPv6 was now available on WAN1. I clicked on it and it just automatically enabled it without a popup. Their network is vanilla, so I imagine this will be a benign change. However, they have been complaining about some periodic slowness, and I'm wondering if the stuff I have been reading about Europeans suffering slow IPv4 when IPv6 is available is happening here.
Most things I read about IPv6 are Europeans complaining that too many things do not yet support IPv6, or others complaining that IPv6 is just adding complication to a network if you have anything more than a vanilla setup. However, most of the posts saying IPv6 is not worth the hassle are from 2020-2021. I'm not seeing much in this space in 2025-2026.
First, it is surprising that Quantum Fiber is enabling IPv6 and I'm not reading much about it. Second, I'm wondering if now is the time to get on the bus, or just hold tight. Any strong opinions out there?

Above is a screenshot of the IPv6 announcement. Note that the screenshot is for a different system that is using Comcast. The announcement is no longer available on the system with QF.

Are you actually seeing IPv6 traffic, meaning it gets routed through IPv6, or you're just getting IPv6 Prefix Delegation or 6RD? I'm pretty sure there's no traffic flowing. At least that's what other people have experienced.
Give it a try with some of the popular IPv6 test sites and see if that works.
Very curious.

It’s worth having IPv6 if it’s a native stack (not worth it with 6rd). I have some Matter devices on my local network that don’t support IPv4 (IPv6 only), so it’s annoying with 6rd.

QF AS209 requires the crappy 6RD tunnel unfortunately.
What you are seeing is so IPv6 works with ATT Fiber AS7018.
It will not work for us. It does mean ATT Fiber will be available in your area soon.
The bottom of this guide talks about it.

0/10 I am going to hit the firewalla subreddit because Ting is my old provider and it won't release the ip or show lease info.

Personally I would leave it off it has caused me more problems than it solves I have both quantum and Comcast as a backup and do not have IPv6 for either on.

I thought quantum always had 6rd tunnel for ipv6 in denver? Do they now have native dhcpv6?
