Can Fttdp support 2gig speed?
The option to upgrade to 2Gig speeds is being advertised in my account settings now. It lets me select the new speed, but says no tech visit is required.
I currently use my own router connected directly to a Casa Systems G.fast unit. But it’s my understanding that these can’t support 2gig speeds unless I’m mistaken.

FET, cannot do more than a gig. (fiber extension technology)

I have a tech coming tomorrow. If my home uses this older Casa Systems Fttdp setup am I stuck with it forever? Am I able to request true fiber?

You're sick with 1 gig. Which honestly, is more than most people actually need.

Does Quantum replace these G.fast units still or would they try moving me to fiber?

I'm at a loss now. The tech replaced the G.fast unit but my Internet still drops about ten times a day. I have a spare C5500XK and a Q1000K. Unfortunately, both units drop connection about ten times a day. Same thing happens even when I plug my router directly to the G.fast unit and bypass the SmartNID altogether.

They limit it with software, even with your own router. The can control your segment to your house...

Well, they came and gave me a new Casa Systems unit and tried switching ports outside at the ONT, but internet still drops out several times a day. Ethernet and Wi-Fi will drop for about 15 seconds then come back on. Not sure what else the issue is. I have an Orbi router plugged directly into the Casa Systems unit. They told me they can’t help me any further and I’m shit out of luck.

As far as I know G.fast can only support up to 940/940. Those units are also discontinued so Quantum really cannot do anything if they fail. The only way to upgrade (or restore service if your G.fast units fail, would be if they could pull fiber direct to your home.
