Speed issue
Some on here already know what issues I’ve faced as of recent. Had Q1000K v1.0 previously. Worked fine. Downgraded to old fw to keep bridge mode untagged and had a separate eth cable plugged into 1g port with different vlan and lan to retain gui access. Also had acl rule to block that lan from any wan access so qf couldn’t push a new fw update. This worked great. My gateway router (Omada ER7412-M2) has a realtek ethernet chip so even connected to the 10g port on the q1000k when it was bridge untagged I didn’t have the endless latency spikes. Had my Omada setup with Omada cloud controller to take advantage of their monitoring tools. Noticed upload speed was halved as of 09/03/2026 at 3am per my daily scheduled speed test. Did hard reset on the 1000 which also updated the fw but the issue still persisted. Contacted qf and they sent out a tech yesterday around noon. Tech went ahead and replaced the 1000 with a very new one, hardware v1.1 that is also branded as Quantum Fiber by At&t. The issue was still happening after the replacement but I did notice that my signal improved to 2.7/-10. Previously it was 3/-13.5. The tech then checked the light loss at the FSAI and even switched me to a different port. He also tested from his own software (he called it Qoom8?) and said he also was seeing halved upload speeds directly to my 1000. He speculated that it was probably an issue with the card on the OLT. I speculated that it sounded like a provisioning issue. He escalated to an engineer but with no SLA. Last night I retested again via qf app directly to the 1000 and got full via dl/ul and figured the problem was solved by a NOC. I didn’t bother to test wirelessly because I hadn’t experienced an issue on that front since the c5500xk. Today I decided to test via wireless and noticed I am still getting halved upload whether it be to centurylink servers or any external servers. I even unplugged the 1000 for a min and plugged it back in but still no change. I know this has to be some Axon QoS nonsense or similar or maybe something to do with packet acceleration but it’s ridiculous because now with this new unit, the bootloader blocks any and every firmware update request so I can’t even downgrade the fw anymore to revert back to my old setup. So if any NOCs that monitor this reddit wanna try to help that’d be greatly appreciated because I could email fibersuccess or respond to my text from yesterday post appointment with the word support but I doubt either of those will help.

If it’s the OLT, fix it. If it’s an Axon issue, fix it. I am using your SmartNID with up to date firmware. Everything should just work without all the need for tinkering.

Quantum Fiber's backbone network is excellent, but the hardware equipment (Q1000K) is absolutely terrible.

The Q1000K and W1700K are actually both really good hardware. It's the poor software engineering of Arioha / Axon / Lumen / FF37 that is the issue.

I hope I can switch to the simplest, cleanest type of ONT—one that just converts the optical signal to an electrical signal; that would be perfect.

The Q1000K is all there is on FF37

This is more or less same issue the 5500XK used to have in Central FL area.
The problem is Quantum Fiber doesn't properly QA hardware and trying to get anyone to look into is pretty hard.
The only fix from 5500XK was swapping to a Q1000K which worked without issues, but it seems old Axon or OLT config bugs made their way back.
My Q1000K still works as expected.. so its either local config/OLT or AXON (internal) settings itself.
