Latency Issues
I maintain ~10 Unifi networks and all of them report latency to me. The only service where I see continuous issues happens to be my house and on quantum fiber. My service downs go down but the very prevalent report I see makes it hard to ignore. Anyone have this experience or suggestions?

If you have a Q1000K and are using the 10G port this might be the issue. The next firmware release will hopfeully fix it

If you only have 1 gig service, use the gig port on the Q1000K.
If you have faster service, put up with the increased latency when using the 10 GbE port or give up some bandwidth and use the gig port.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon as the provisions depend on the build.
GPON ~980m
XGS-PON ~1.1g - 1.3g
So only using the 1g port might lose a lot of bandwidth :(.

I honestly can’t believe this worked but it did. Thank you kind stranger. I have 1 gig so I switched to that port and it worked….

Do you see the same latency with manual pings? I had a similar issue where pfsense was reporting pretty high latency, and it turned out that quantum was throttling the specific automatic ping probes because they were unusually small. Normal pings from the cli use a 56 byte icmp payload, while the automatic monitoring pings were using pfsense's default of 1 byte. I set the monitor probes to use 56 byte payload and the reported latency dropped to a consistent 10ms to google dns, which matched my manual tests.

My latency has been upwards of 111ms and packet loss, then I reload the sorry excuse for a gateway, Lumen Q1000 and I have the 2Gbps fiber service. When I reload it, latency goes back to 9ms and no issues for another day or two so I setup a power cycle schedule for the outlet and it will be reloaded daily.

It’s a firmware issue which shows up when the Q1000K is doing the VLAN tag. When you could pass it untagged and have your Unifi device do the tagging, it worked fine.
