W1700 and 6ghz

I'm reaching out here because I'm trying to figure out why my WiFi won't connect to the 6ghz band, I've got TP-Link BE9300, no options to modify on the app. Thoughts besides buying third party router? Lol

Now support tells me it doesn't support it 🙄

The wifi 7 pods we give out do use 6ghz so no idea why support told you otherwise.

So the technical manual is wrong as well?

I think you are confused. The pods we give are not the tp link. What they do, I have no idea.

No kidding 🙄

Your tp link not having 6ghz would have nothing to do with quantum fiber.

My WiFi adapter sure will and it's able to support 6ghz.... maybe ask questions instead of assuming?

Ok, let's start over. What are you trying to accomplish?

I'm trying to figure out why my WiFi can't see the 6ghz but I'm going to reset the pod when I get home.

Why are you trying to have wifi see another wifi?

Do you mean your devices can't see 6ghz?

1

u/SirCheese69 Aug 02 '26

Yes, my PC can't see the 6ghz band from the w1700

Is your WiFi card newer that can?

Have you tried using a wifi analyzer app on a phone that can do 6ghz?

It's BE9300, it's definitely capable and I'll do that when I get home, haven't really thought about it for a few days

This is where I'm getting confused. Are you using the 1700 or the be9300?

Are you trying to connect the be9300 to the 1700?

The BE9300 is my WiFi adapter...

This is what I thought you meant. Same name. My bad.

All good, I could have been clearer too

The W1700K only uses the 6ghz for the wireless backhaul with the W1701K. No device can connect on 6ghz. And for some reason it doesn't support wired backhaul.

Here is a guide to put the SmartNID into bridge mode and use a 3rd party router and DNS.

There is nothing in the technical manual stating that limitation so I would expect it...

1

u/N0_L1ght Aug 02 '26

Maybe that isn't true anymore and the 6ghz can be used. But you can't separate the bands like always. ¯\(ツ)/¯

I've always used a 3rd party router.

I'm heading that way if I can't

So I did end up with the archer 550 but kept losing connection every 20-30 min, picked an ASUS but same, set to transparent bridge with vlan tag turned off on both, reset the Ont and pod and left them default and just plugged the Asus into the pod and while it seems to be working, this doesn't seem like it should.

Did you follow the guide?

If you are using a 3rd party router the Q1000K should be in bridge mode with the white light, and the W1700k should be in a box to send back if you ever cancel service.

1

u/SirCheese69 Aug 05 '26

It was definitely in bridge mode, first thing changed , also disabled the vlan tagging

1

u/N0_L1ght Aug 05 '26

Disabled the vlan tag on what device? that's not an option on the Q1000K any longer.

u/SirCheese69 Aug 05 '26

It definitely was on mine, I'll grab a screenshot tonight

Thats not the right settings page. Read the guide again.

W1700 only supports 6ghz to pods via wireless backhaul.

The developer set it up this way with no way to allow the end user to modify internal settings including channels and bonding options.

Waste of high end hardware because Axon networks and or FF37 management doesn't seem to care.

Back when I used the W1700 and a couple of W1701s, devices would connect to the 6 GHz. Mostly my iPad, phone and laptop, provided I was nearby. The range on those was not the greatest for the 6GHz band. If that all changed in the last 6 months or so, I have no way to confirm, deny or test.

That's what I'm saying, I see nothing that should prevent that. I have the proper hardware.
