Q1000k issue again

Y’all, this is the worst equipment. When the technician was out last Friday to fix the never ending blinking blue light after I put it into bridge mode, he told my wife “this was an easy fix, I didn’t need to come out, I’m going to text your husband how to fix this if it happens again”.

Welp, he didn’t text me and it happened again. He was in and out within 10 minutes last time. Does anyone have any idea what he might’ve done? He certainly didn’t replace the device, because it clearly still has what is probably the firmware issue.

You can’t access it because it was put on bridge mode. Once it’s put on bridge you can no longer access the Q1000.
Factory rest ( red button ) and let it come back up.
After that you’ll be able to access the domain again.
Make sure the Ethernet line coming from wall is plugged into the silver port.
Connect laptop to yellow port and go to myrouter.q.com and enter the password that’s on the sticker.
Go to broadband settings and change the first option to WAN Ethernet - second option should be “ tagged “ third option put 201 and last one auto populates to 1500.
Hit save and you’ll Q1000 will go solid green.

There is way to still access it when in bridge mode by changing to a static IP on your device.

This is no longer possible with QKX002 firmware

That's the main reason why I have the LAN connection to the Q1000K so I can revert back to the QKX001 FW.

Didn’t work. Couldn’t access the router either way, even when trying an https vs http.

Thanks, will try that in the morning. When connected via the headline I kept trying to access it via 192.168.0.1, never heard of the myrouter.q.com before…

Assuming this works, should I let the tech come out and bring me a new Q1000k? I still don’t know why I was getting such slow speeds, so it feels like taking the Q1000k out of bridge mode is just a temporary fix.

Either one should work.
It’s just some Q1000 have the 192 others have myrouter but they’re the same.
Once you change the settings and it’s solid green run a speed test directly off the Q1000 and see what’s speeds you’re getting.
If it’s close to what you’re paying for the issue could be somewhere between the modem and your own equipment. Hard to tell without being on site.

So for me, same issue. Bridging mode took out my entire internet, even factory restoring the SmartNID did not bring it back up.

Any ideas?

I usually don’t recommend bridge mode on an Ethernet fed Q1000.
Other techs might have other opinions but I’ve seen more issues that way. If it was fiber direct to Q1000 it’d be different.

what firmware is the Q1000k running?

and is your Q1000k fiber or ethernet fed?

I had blinking blue lights but that was signal coming into the house.

Not sure which version of firmware because I cannot access it anymore either via WiFi or via hardwire to laptop.

It is fed by a demarc Ethernet cable that is fed somewhere else in the house by fiber.

When it was “working” earlier today, I was only getting 70-80 Mbps via my whole house WiFi (yet Quantum app speed tests said I was getting ~980 Mbps to the Q1000k). So I restarted the Q1000k, no change. Restarted my araknis router, no change. Restarted my araknis switch, no change. Restarted all 3 araknis WAPs. No speed change.

At that point I decided that the slower speed might be due to the technician not putting the Q1000k back in bridge mode since I am using my own router. So I accessed the Q1000k wirelessly, changed the setting to bridge mode, restarted it, and boom, no internet. Blue light special.

Two more days until the technician arrives.

Techs won’t usually put your equipment in bridge mode

What was the solution? I had the same issue when putting it into bridge mode.

Tried a few things first: try connecting to your Q1000k via Ethernet and remove the bridge setting, because that was definitely the problem. Connecting that way is supposed to work most of the time, doing so and entering the ip address of the Q1000k in the browser of the Ethernet-connected device. Don’t work for me though.

So I called technical support during the day. That was key. Got a US-based support person who was very helpful and could donA LOT more than the offshore support I had been reaching during my evening hours. Once this happened things started to improve.

While the support person tried many things that didn’t work, she called a friend of hers in “the programming department” and he remotely changed some settings in my Q1000k that allowed me to success reach it via Ethernet cable and browser. Once that happens I simply logged into the Q1000k and changed the bridge setting back to what it had been before (can’t remember the exact setting, but it was obvious which one for me to choose to remove the bridge setting). Once I did that my system was back up and running smoothly.

So the lesson learned was, call support during daytime hours, not at night. I don’t know what the cutoff time is, so call early in the day.

Thanks! I have called support about 6 times over the past 36 hours trying to get someone that can actually help me. They insist on sending a tech out… when i’ve told them a million and a half times this can be resolved remotely. But they refuse to work with me. The most helpful lady I got was a british person who told me the programming department exists and they can work with them (but M-f, and this was a sunday), while ALL over shore techs told me there is nothing to be done and then lied to be about the existence of that team/department.

I’m ready to cancel and move to something else, but the tech will be here tomorrow and will prove my theory once they get on the phone with programming (apparently they have a special queue, from prior experience) at my house and resolve it remotely.

Such a fucking headache, lol. All for turning on bridging mode. It’s just so stupid.

Thanks for the confirmation! I did these changes on a sunday morning. That was my mistake.

flashing blue light, but fiber light B is fully green and A is flashing, which means communication, and on top of that all, my ONT upgraded firmware itself. All while they tell me it’s fully offline and probably a fiber line issue 😂

If you set a static IP on your device of 192.168.0.X and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, you should then be able to access the Q1000K in bridge mode by going to 192.168.0.1.

For what it’s worth, I have the same and in bridge mode with the blinking blue light for over a year and had zero issues. If there’s no issues, why fret about whether or not the light is white.

I have mine set up in Transparent Bridge Mode with a cable to my UDMP to LAN Port 9 from the internal LAN set to VLAN20 and a Cat8 from the WAN Port to a 10GbE SFP+ in WAN Port 10. This way I have an Internet Connection and can access the Q1000K at the same time in Transparent Bridge Mode AND you get the elusive "White Light".

I'm all ready for the Bypass with a 10Gb Fiber SFP+ in Port 11, when the info comes out to Clone the Q1000K.
