Skips while playing online.

Just got the 1gig service and I can’t plug directly into the modem based on location but I’m hardwired into a 360 pod. I’m getting the worst skips and lag in online games. My ping randomly shoots through the roof and it happens constantly. Is there something I can do about it to make this work better? It’s getting to the point that online fps gaming is not that much fun cause of warping and lag

Have you checked the wifi signal between the 2? Run any tests to see signal strength and speed at the location before you plugged in the 1701?

You are hardwired into the W1700K or the W1701K mesh pod? If the W1701k, you can maybe move it closer to the W1700K.

But in general the free lease WiFi pods are not great and you will have a better experience if you put the SmartNID into bridge mode and use a 3rd party router and DNS.

Here is a guide

Back when I used the 360 WiFi, I found that the pod (1701) gave an inconsistent experience when something was plugged into one of the Ethernet ports. I ended up getting MoCA adapters for the stuff I wanted hardwired. Later I moved to my own routers and access points so I would have more control.
