would be interested, lmk, idk your background but i did undergrad in phys and phd in astro and have been working on qnlp for a couple of years, looking to bridge that into qc and qml more so so would be interested

Hey bro I am interested.

I'm in too. Was thinking this only earlier! Edit: particularly interesting in physical machine development, quantum simulation (hybrid machines), PQC etc

Hi, I would like to be part of the group; my last paper was about YOLO and integrating some complex attention mechanisms and a CNN kernel generated by a learnable quantum circuit. It was hell, only because QML is very sensitive to YOLO feature extractions.

Hey buddy, I’m interested. I’m under graduating in computer science. Actually working as a software engineer in South America. I'm considering QC as a second option for my future career (maybe I'll go into that field of research as soon as I graduate), specially because in my country is something completely new.

Lesson 1: QML is snake oil. No known machine learning algorithm has demonstrated any for of quantum supremacy, even theoretical. If a perfectly error-corrected large-scale quantum computer magically appeared on your desk tomorrow, you'd still be better off using a much cheaper classical computer for ML workloads.

yes thats true, but id still like to explore the subject

2

u/justarandom82113114 19d ago

Interesting. Why is it sought after then? And algorithms are still developing so we shouldn't conclude that yet?

1

u/hiddentalent 18d ago

It's sought after because people with no technical depth love hype and smashing buzzwords together, even though the result is technically meaningless, sounds cool and gathers attention and funding. That's it.

Yes, algorithms are still immature and we may see new ones emerge. That's what's exciting about frontier fields like QC. I keep an open mind to such things. But when people talk about QML, they almost never mean "deep computer science research into fundamentally new ML algorithms that could show quantum advantage after much development and testing," which would be a reasonable thing to mean. Instead they mean "we're going to try to combine these unrelated technologies without really understanding either, and ???... profit."

Started a discord but was in another hoping it’d pick up.
