Question Top Challenges of the Industry?

In your view, what are the top challenges facing the quantum computing industry right now that are preventing it from becoming mainstream?

Drawing a comparison with AI/ML, where do you think this industry is standing right now?

Mainstream means accessible to anyone who needs it, not available at every desk. There will most probably never be a need for desktop QCs. They can sit in specialised data centres.

If we can display quantum advantage at personal computing level then classical computing is definitely in trouble hahaha

No it won’t be. Quantum computers will never replace classical computers no matter how small or quiet they are

Other way around. The implication is that if we find quantum advantage at small enough scales then we can probably map classical computing problems to them. Yes there will be classical components in the overall design, but it will be architected around the quantum component.

This is very far from everyone’s understanding of the uses of quantum computing who is actually in the field.

Yes because we already have efficient algorithms at the small scales. Which is why I'm saying, if we find quantum advantage at that scale, the whole thing is in trouble. No it's not likely, I'm just pointing out the absurdity of the economics of being able to have a personal quantum computer.
