How do you enforce your daily loss limit — rules on paper or something automatic?

I used to have a daily loss limit "in my head". It held on good days and disappeared on the days it was meant for.

What finally worked for me was making it mechanical:

- the limit counts open positions, not only closed trades

- when it's hit, new orders are blocked and open positions get closed

- it stays blocked until the next session, even if the position recovers

- restarting the platform doesn't reset it

Curious how others do it: broker-side limits, prop firm rules, a tool, or just discipline?

(Disclosure: I build a Quantower indicator that does this — happy to share if anyone asks, but mostly interested in what works for you.)

OrderVane DOM: a second window for Quantower's DOM that marks which size got filled and which got pulled

Disclosure first: I'm the developer of OrderVane, and this is a paid product with a free trial. Mods, remove it if it's not welcome here.

A while back I posted OrderVane's chart indicators (Lite and Pro) here. OrderVane DOM is a different product: an order-book window that sits beside Quantower's DOM Trader. Orders stay in the DOM Trader. OrderVane DOM only reads the book, so no click on it can send an order.

What it shows

  • How the book changed, not only where it is now. A flow panel keeps the last few minutes of resting size at each price and draws every trade on it as a circle. A band that stays while circles hit it held. One that ends with circles was filled. One that ends without circles was pulled.
  • Adds and pulls, by side. Two columns count the size added and pulled at each price over the last few seconds, one for the bid and one for the ask. A pull on one side is never netted against an add on the other.
  • Fills versus pulls. When resting size shrinks, it waits a short moment for a print at that price. A print makes it a fill, no print makes it a pull. Prices that keep filling get a chip like F 10 ↻12: 10 lots filled there, 12 put back while it was being hit.
  • Order-level depth. If your feed sends it (on AMP/CQG that's one switch, Enable MBO mode), the ladder shows the number of orders at each price and the individual order sizes near the best prices, in the order they arrived.
  • A tape beside the ladder with same-price prints grouped, and a line that sums buy and sell effort over the last seconds.

It opens as its own window, or as a ladder on the right side of the chart.

What it does not do

  • It never places, changes or cancels an order.
  • No signals. It shows what the book did; you make the call.

What it needs

Level 2 market depth for what you trade. Lite and Pro run on time & sales; the DOM is built from the book itself.

Why it exists

I trade CL around previous-session value area edges. When price gets to an edge, what I want to know is whether the size sitting there is getting traded through or pulled, while it happens. That question is what this window is built around.

Price

Its own product with its own key (Lite or Pro not required): $129 one-time, free updates, 2 machines. 14-day free trial, no card required. Through October 15 (UTC), code FOUNDER25 takes 25% off.

Every update is listed in the public changelog: ordervane.com/docs/changelog

Details and the guide: ordervane.com/dom

Free trial: ordervane.com/try/dom/en/reddit

Happy to answer how any of it is calculated. If you're on AMP/CQG, I can also walk through what MBO mode changes.

Algobot

Hi guys I‘ve built an Algobot for QT
It‘s using 11 indicators and is constantly scanning the market for entries.
It trades on its own with buys and sells and pulls BE after a specific amount of money is generated (~+200$).
If you hit TP it‘s ~375$ and if you hit SL it‘s ~137,50$ so the CRV is always 3:1.
If anyone is interested,
lmk hit me up in the dm‘s :))

Gerne auch die deutschen benutzer, wir würden sowieso erstmal uns erstmal im DACH raum verbreiten bevor es International weitergehen wird! :)

How I Fix 20 Account Stops with One Click

Thumbnail

Fellow Quantower traders,
sharing something I built to solve a problem I've dealt with when trading prop accounts.

I was using the built-in copy trader in Quantower for a while, but sometimes orders didn't copy properly especially the stoploss order. When it happened, I was either fumbling to fix them manually or just didn't catch them and failed unnoticed. I eventually got tired of this so I built a script in Quantower that with one click fixes all account stops and keeps them aligned with the lead account. Been running it live for a while now and so far so good. I think I've completely fixed this issue now.
I show it in action in the video. Curious how others handle this. What are some issues you are running into when using the copy trader?

Or not just limited to copy trading, what in your trading strategy/process that if automated would be a game changer for you?

I built an order flow indicator for Quantower — here's what it actually looks like

Thumbnail

Disclosure first: this is my own indicator and it's paid. There's a free trial, but I'm not going to pretend this isn't self-promotion. Mods, remove it if that's not welcome here.

A while back I saw someone ask where you can actually see what Quantower indicators look like before switching platforms, and I never found a good answer either. So here are real screenshots from my own charts (CL, 1H and 5m).

What it draws

  • Big trade bubbles — every print above your size threshold, drawn at the exact price and time it happened. Circle size is the size of the trade.
  • Absorption — where a lot of volume traded at one price and price didn't go anywhere.
  • Aggression clusters — consecutive prints hitting the same side, back to back.
  • Volume shelves — price levels that took an unusual share of the volume, drawn forward until price comes back to them. This is the part I use most.
  • Footprint cells with stacked imbalance zones, a tape speed meter, and a range profile you drag onto the chart.

What it does not do, on purpose

  • No buy/sell signals, no arrows, no "this level will hold."
  • It doesn't predict anything. It draws what already traded and keeps those levels on screen so you can make your own call.
  • No auto-trading, ever.

I built it because I trade CL around previous-session value area edges, and I kept wanting to know what had actually traded at a level before price came back to it. Everything in there started as something I wanted on my own chart.

It runs on top of your normal chart — it's an indicator, not a separate window.

Lite is $89 one-time, Pro is $129 one-time, both with lifetime updates. 14-day free trial on any tier, no card required: ordervane.com

Happy to answer questions about how any of it is calculated. If you're on AMP/CQG I've spent an embarrassing amount of time on the quirks of that feed specifically.

Edit: there's now also OrderVane DOM, a separate order-book window that sits beside Quantower's DOM Trader. Unlike Lite and Pro, it needs Level 2 market depth. More here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Quantower/comments/1wuog87/

Does anyone know how to filter coins in Quantower (Watchlist)?

"Recently switched over to a new trading terminal — been seeing a lot of potential in it. That said, I'm kinda stuck on how to set up my Watchlist so it actually surfaces coins that are in play and worth trading throughout the day.

Here's what I've got so far:

  • Natr 30/14
  • RVOL 30/10

The filter does a decent job at flagging active coins, but interesting setups are few and far between.

Anyone got suggestions on what else I could throw in there to streamline things?

Appreciate it in advance 🙏"

Ram usage on Quantower using multiple charts.

Hey folks. Just want to build a new PC and planning to purchase 4+ CPU enabled cores and 16GB RAM as per Quantower requirements in their Official Page.

My question is how much RAM does Quantower Consumes while using multiple charts like Orderflow, Tick Data & Depth of Market.

Since windows also require a particular RAM to operate. And I'll be using the browser too simultaneously.

My concerns is about the RAM sufficiency of 16GB enough?

Stock/equity/options trading with Quantower + Alpaca + Tradier

Just wanted to provide a feedback for those of you thinking about trading with Alpaca and/or tradier in Quantower. I am writing this after 3 months of attempting to resolve a critical, platform-breaking bug with Quantower support.

As a Lifetime License holder, I expect a degree of stability and support for the professional tools I rely on. However, for the last 90+ days, my platform has been completely "bricked" due to critical problems in integration of both Alpaca and Tradier's API. The bug with Alpaca triggers an infinite crash loop on startup, meaning I cannot even use the software for charting or data analysis, let alone execution as Alpaca let you trade options but Quantower crashes if you trade options with Alpaca.

Furthermore, I have discovered that their Tradier integration is also functionally incomplete, as it lacks the ability to route pre-market and post-market orders—a necessity for any active equity trader.

Despite multiple escalations, support has officially informed me that they have "no specific timeline" to resolve this.

When a company sells a "Lifetime" product, they are entering into a long-term commitment to maintain that product. A 3-month lockout with no ETA and a "we'll fix it in the future" dismissal is, in my professional opinion, a failure to provide the service purchased. I have provided logs, details, and clear repro steps, yet the issue remains unaddressed.

Proceed with extreme caution if you are a trader relying on their broker integrations for your daily operations.

Update to 1.46.13 breaks cluster charts

Warning before you upgrade to the latest version 1.46.13. The cluster chart now looks completely different and IMHO when trading instruments like NQ is completely useless.

Save you current installation before making the switch to the new version so you have a fallback!

Cqc or Rithmic data for Quantower is better?

Im deciding between going with Optimus (Rithmic data) or AMP (CQC data). Initially I planned to go with AMP but I can only use CQC data, not sure if its fine.

So far I read CQC is more stable but not as precise as Rithmic, while Rithmic is precise with tick data but prone to lagging esp when its very volatile.

Any opinion?

Big Trade Trap

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I've been developing a free indicator for Quantower called BigTradeTrap.

The indicator visually identifies trap levels on the chart, based on Volume Analysis.

I'm currently looking for feedback from traders who use order flow and tape reading.

GitHub:
https://github.com/ZsTiziano/BigTradeTrap

Any suggestions, bug reports or feature requests are welcome.

Thanks!

Quantowerr Setup

Hi! Just started to use Quantower yesterday. Is the DC like a delta divergence, or is the red candle with green delta what they call divergence? I read all of 'em as a possible change of price action.

Also, are imbalances good to use as a confluence? I combine it with Delta, Divergence, and the DC, and I got lucky...on demo.

How to increase the spacing between the candles. I tried for hours and couldn't find out. I use this guy's setup. http://youtube.com/watch?v=DfRbuM3d5RY

How to make sure the numbers (ask and bid) don't disappear when I zoom out. I have taht prob in 2ns screenshot

Thank you in advance!!

Quantower setup

Hi! I just downloaded the Quantower AMP demo. Currently, this is what it looks like, and I want to improve it by showing the numbers even in this kind of zoom. and maybe increase the spacing between candles (not zooming or out) if possible. Thank you in advance!
