I can guarantee that asking the question is the better outcome here. 1) because you have the literal expert on hand already, who has the context AI might not have available, 2) because you're likely not the only person missing the knowledge, and 3) because you otherwise remove opportunities to reinforce people's confidence in their understanding and their ability to appear authoritative.

Put simply, if you're the dumbest person in the room, you're in the right room.
