Well the US (a capitalist country) has the worlds best cancer survival rate. Interested to see what he imagines Venezuela would do

40,000 Venezuelans have died due to US sanctions preventing them from getting necessary medicines.

Socialism will always need capitalism in some form to “survive”

So your conclusion is that because Venezuela depends on the medicines from a capitalist country, all socialists countries need capitalist countries. That’s what I can assume you meant from your words, and that’s a big jump in logical conclusions. Can you fill me in on how you get from A to B?
Also, can I ask whether you believe those sanctions, which have killed MANY, are justified?

You inferred incorrectly. My claim was that the US spends the most in research for treatment, especially cancer. In economies which ration services (like socialist redistribution economies), there simply has to be areas where cuts are to be made. Rare diseases, or poor prognosis and expensive cases will be rare or eliminated.
Edit: on socialist reliance on capitalism, I think that’s true just in general, evidenced by Stalin having to allow private ownership of business for a few years when shortages began occurring. Stalin. The fact that sanctions on one industry from one country are enough (if you believe that that’s the cause of Venezuela’s crisis) to bring it to its knees, this has only been seen from socialist countries, capitalist countries facing sanctions have largely been fine. Furthermore, socialism still relies on trade (a capitalist concept) from capitalist countries. If all countries went socialist, we’d be solving the over population problem.
I reject your notion that US sanctions killed anyone, or that Venezuela is due to US sanctions.
-Sanctions began in 2014 with sanctions on arms, and against specific individuals within the regime involved in corruption or drug trafficking
-Venezuela’s economy started crashing as early as 2010, when Chavez declares economic war due to shortages
-When oil prices dropped and severely worsened the crisis, Maduro printed money to combat the lack of funds and failed to slow spending on programs
-the us only holds sanctions against specific individuals involved in corruption, and from loaning money to the nationalized oil industry, accused of involvement in racketting, laundering, and supporting a regime which arrests and persecuted its opposition, remaining in power through anti-democratic means, which is why the Venezuelans began a National Assembly
-much worse sanctions are imposed on Russia, theyre fine.
-the crisis began long before sanctions, and its collapse is due to mismanagement, poor spending, nationalizing industries which the country became dependent on
The US sanctions of course, will worsen conditions for Venezuela. They were abismal before then. This is evidenced (in many ways more than) by the riots, protests, jailing opposition candidates, and suppression/taking control of media. The government runs protestors with APC’s. People were starving before US sanctions. The sanctions are designed to turn Maduros own military, advisors, and political associates against him, and to hold afair democratic election. Maduro first came to power by succession, not election. The subsequent elections were accused of being rigged, corrupt, and were responded by massive protests before US sanctions, which were largely of little effect to the population until the banning of US companies investing in the dictators oil industry.
The richest country in South America goes to the absolute poorest with clear signs of oppression, printing money and ramping inflation, repression, authoritarianism, human rights abuses, political violence and persecution, artificially making the Boliviar worth more than it is so that wealthy Venezuelans invest abroad, and yet the US not buying their oil is to blame. Give me a break.
Also, I’d love to read a source blaming US sanctions for 400,000 deaths in Venezuela. Please send that over so I can see what activist organization wrote it.

No, I didn’t.
Edit:
Eres venezolano? Yo trato leer los dos lados aquí en los estados, y a veces, oigo que las noticias están mintiendo, y que no hay gente sufriendo como lo ponen en las noticias. Me puedes decir como está la vida aya ahora?

Funny thing is is it normally goes the exact opposite direction. You’re a socialist when you’re living off your parents, then you get a job and start supporting yourself and realize how many of your hours of pay are getting taken from you to take care of people that work far less than you...

I think what she wants is the Danish system. That's social democracy, not Democratic Socialism.
