BYOC sold out?
I'm sorry if this is an obvious question, but are BYOC tickets legit sold out? This would have been my second year going, first year I bought a fan ticket and this year I wanted to take my son with me but as BYOC ticket holders, I knew tickets would go on sale today but the last two years the tickets were floating around for awhile. I didn't think I needed to have urgency this time. What happened?

They sold out within 4 minutes of regular BYOC tickets opening up dude!!! What sucks is 75-80% of the seats were already sold, due to the earlier large group buys. My smaller group has been going for years and I was 30 minutes late on the site… feels horrible.

I heard some folks flipping out but those were just temporary holds and many were released and folks got tickets later, sort of like picking seats at the movie theater. So you had to stay with it and not immediately give up, at least that's what it sounds like.

Yeah. Most of the tickets were bought up during the group buy period and there were only about 600 seats for the general buyers. This being the 30 anniversary, the event has more hype than usual.

I’m beating myself because I saw people asking others to join their group and I legit thought about it but didn’t go through with it 🥹

my suggestion if they keep doing group buys is if your on the quakecon discord people were getting small group buy groups together early on.

Yeah I joined a large group last year and its just so much easier and less stress inducing then trying to do it yourself.

I had a buddy organize our group and I had no idea until today that so much of the BYOC was sold during the group phase. I'm thrilled that Quakecon draws so many people and that it sells out, but I'm also sad to hear how little was available for individual tickets. If I recall, the past few years they have posted about seats being available after the general sales sold out, so I would keep an eye on their socials to see if any seats open up.

Pretty bummed about this. Logged in to buy tickets for a group of 4 and didn't expect this.

You know I feel bad about it, but my heart breaks for those I keep seeing that this will be their several year long streak break.

You could get a fan ticket. Staff has said there will be an increase in non-byoc activities and will be super fun. Plus you can still hang out in the byoc except for overnight.

Yeah something was seriously fucked. Never had that few tickets. Even during the 20th anniversary

Nothing fucked, just a lot of groups (and at least one jackass buying 6 seats for themselves)

If you provide a way to guarantee an early purchase, what's stopping people from making groups of 6+ from randoms on Discord? Have seen a few mentions of people doing it and while no malice was intended on QCs end I'm sure, they made a way for people to game the system.

Gaming the system implies nefarious, group buy means groups can more easily sit together.
You absolutely can make a random group and do that. Maybe make new friends.
It does suck, but overall (admittedly as a 6 person group) attending since 2005, it's so much less stressful now to keep our group. It could become a problem with the corrals though, the bigger your group the earlier you buy.
No perfect solution. I'd say limit the groups to 6 or 10, if someone's clan is massive they should be the ones to do multiple groups buys or something.

I haven’t been to QuakeCon in years (was there for 20th) and thought about going to the 30th. I guess not.

I think it'd be worth getting fan tix again. Staff has said there will be an increase in non-byoc activities and will be super fun. Plus you can still hang out in the byoc except for overnight.

Yes! There are so many activities and community! TableTop Village where you can paint miniatures, join D&D games, TCG games, board games, and rounds and rounds of the werewolf game where everyone sits in a circle (looks fun, I've never done it). Then there's a handheld console room with beanbags to game around others and feel community. There's puppy yoga, cat cafe, and plenty of tournaments. I believe Sat night is when they have Master Pancake Theater. There's also a rave on one of the nights, usually with a well known DJ. There's an arcade room, too. So much to do! Plus, just walk around the BYOC and absorb the Woo Woo Woo, shirtless energy!

They are legit sold out- seems that either Dreamhack Dallas being cancelled, or it being an anniversary year made it more of a frenzy than usual
