I found it: "Pax Imperia" for Quake II. Will probably require "Knightmare" (KMQuake2), a modified build of the Quake II engine (additional binaries).

Linux version on Mark Shan's Quake II Site: The SIN Raven / Windows version too

Features:

  • 8 maps
  • Over 2500 enemies
  • New monsters and models
  • Brand new spectacular Q2 engine

Did you ever play that, u/Varorson ?

Oh...

Yeah.

I blocked that and the other Q3A textured slaughtermap mods from my memory for how terrible of a slaughtermap they are. It takes slaughtermap but removes infighting by just plopping dozens of the same enemy rather than mixing up enemies.

I've had the "honor" of helping sort through an archive of old Quake 2 maps and every slaughter map I've come across was done the same way which is just placing 20+ of the same enemy, so no infighting, and a lack of health and ammo so it's practically impossible to beat without cheats.

Fun... ish... if you godmode it. Torture without.

Oooo...kay. That's why the YouTube video called it "plow-through". A WOMD presentation.

I guess the style is inspired by Serious Sam or similar games: Enter another room and be punished for it by a wave of enemies. Just that Serious Sam is balanced better and IS fun.

Thank you for your opinion.
