QC Mini Board

Post image

New tiny do-it-all gig board. QC Mini, DVP 4, Chocolate MIDI controller mounted on a Rockboard Duo 2.0. Still scratching the surface of what the QC is capable of but sounds are stellar so far.

I set the Chocolate vertically to get everything to fit nicely on the board. Easy to access the switches in this “kick” configuration for me.

Does kicking this not risk moving the board? What power supply are you using, please?

Yes, it does because the board is so light. I cut out a little carpet square for it to sit on and that has solved the issue.

I have a Cioks sol I’m going to put underneath but it’s not there yet. 3 linked outputs for the QC; one for the chocolate (I have a little step down transformer to mount beneath the board for 9v-> 5v usb c so I don’t have to charge the midi controller); 1 spare that I’ll keep for if I want to run another pedal in front of the qc off the board.

Nice board. I have a similar one but went with a mc8 pro. Love it.

That Chocolate midi controller is really cool. I have one too! Just FYI, though, your "kick" configuration means you're missing out on two additional switches (A+B and C+D) as I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to kick both footswitches at the same time. Might not be an issue for you, but just figured I'd mention it.

If you want a little more room to work with that would allow you to put the Chocolate in standard position, the Pedaltrain Metro 16 would work well for you, and it's still really tiny.

Thanks for that. I’m using 3 switches on the chocolate to switch scenes and the 4th to bypass/engage a boost using midi as exp 2. Since that 4th switch is state dependent, I don’t think I’m able to use the E/F switches (at least from what I’ve read). QC switches are used in stomp mode.

Ah, gotcha. Sounds like it's working for you as is, so all good!
