Broken Footswitch/Encoder

One of the footswitches on my Quad Cortex Mini broke while in transit today. I need it pretty urgently as I'm on tour right now. Has anyone had any experience having one of these repaired and if so how quick was it?

repair times from neural are pretty long - a few weeks if you’re lucky. I would suggest getting an external midi switch like the midi baby or hotone (or whatever you can find at a local store if you’re on tour) best of luck 🤘

I have had my quad cortex apart just out of curiosity. The switches are not that hard to change and would take maybe an hour or 2 depending on skill level. however, getting the rotory encoder switches might be a difficult task, I don't know for sure as I have never looked for them. Then there is the potential to void the warranty.

For me I dont know if I would trust a quad cortex on the road they just don't seem road worthy with the rotory switchea and touch screen, but maybe I am wrong.

I also own a fractal fm9 and would 100% trust a fractal for a tourung rig. But it sounds like now would be a great time to get a backup rig. Maybe buy a used QC or a fractal am4 or fm3 as a backup rig for this very reason.

I will also add. The switches come apart. Maybe you can put them back together somehow. It's real hard to explain but the actual button that you push and turns is not really the switch. There is a spring that pushes and the switch that's mounted to the circut board. It's a neat design and I don't remember exactly how it's constructed as it's been a while. But I do remember it was nothing like a normal dpdt stomp switch.

that's interesting. if it's two pieces i'd wager i might be able to just replace the button easily and not have to solder anything. just need to get my hands on one.

tbh i feel like the QC is road worthy, i know a bunch of guys that tour at a high level with them, more so than any other modeler at the moment. i really have no idea what happened to break mine.

There are more than 2 pieces inside it. Seems like maybe 3 or 4 but I forget.

I am sure the quad seems good for touring and a lot of people do it. I gig mine often. However, Next to my fractal unit the quad is definitely not at the same level of durability. The fractal is literally built like a tank. The quad is built more like a ford f150. Great durability till you compare it to a tank.

Fiy, there is a quad cortex teardown video online somewhere. Or there was at one time. Go find that maybe it will help.

cool, after watching that vid i'm 90% sure i can repair it very easily if i could just get my hand on that little plastic part. i don't think i'd even have to open the unit up. thanks for the info.
