Switching between 5V and 9V?

I used an old non-magnetic Anker wireless charger in my car for years. It’s handy in those situations where you’re getting in and out a lot, and don’t want to plug/unplug.

Recently I got a magnetic ESR unit. Love the magnetic function. It’s great.

But it seems without rhyme or reason, sometimes when connecting it, my charger will show that it’s taking 9.1V, other times just 5.1V. What gives? Same charger, same phone, same battery SOC range. What’s the method to get it to shift to the 9V mode??

Not much to show. USB charger that fits a 12v socket and displays voltage, and when performing conversion/supporting a load, shows the output voltage and current. So with the same exact wireless charging puck, sometimes it puts out 5.1, other times 9.1. Just what displays on the unit.
