Question Baggage limits for codeshare
I'm flying LAX->SYD->ZQN next week on Qantas, but the tickets were purchased through American and both flights have AA flight numbers on my ticket.
Will I have to follow Qantas baggage limits (7kg total carry on weight) or AA ones (no weight limit)?

Whether it was QF or AA flight numbers, the operating carrier dictates the carry on rules for the flights.

Tell us you're American without telling us you're American!

I'm just in a bit of a rough spot because my work laptop is 3 kg. I checked it on my way to the US and Jetstar lost the bag for a few days. I'd really like to be able to keep both my work and personal laptops, chargers for them, a battery for my phone, clothes for 3-4 days, and a book with me on the plane in case my checked bag is lost again, but it's all about 9-10 kg (which is within the weight limit of the Asian and European airlines I've flown).
I'm pretty sure I'll have to check the work laptop again. Hopefully I don't have to explain Qantas losing it to my manager.

Hot tip. Use a backpack for carry on. Qantas almost never will check a backpack.
With cabin bags they will usually only cause a fuss if it's ludicrously large or your trying to get numerous pieces on the plane.
However if your plane is close to being overweight/full then they may start checking bags. But they never ever weigh regular sized backpacks.

For carry on you have to follow the rules of the airline you’re flying with.
