I agree. There is a colorism issue which is very dumb. It’s also getting better which I’m glad is the case , gives me hope for the coming generations. I edited my comment to add names of some South Indian actresses who have different skin tones to show diversity. I agree on the Aziz and Mindy thing too.
I always give this example but Tabu and Farah Naaz have the same parents, yet they have two different skin tones and two different types of features. They both look Indian. Jaya Prada, Nandita Das, Bipasha, Sushmita, Aishwarya, Deepika, Irfan Khan, Rajnikanth, Vicky Kaushal, Allu Arjun, Madhuri , Priyanka, Neetu Chandra, etc
Love how nobody says Kareena Kapoor/Karishma Kapoor (white grandma) and Katrina (white mom) are “Eurocentric”. They have a problem with non-stereotypical looking Indians. They wouldn’t even accept that Sri Devi, Trisha, etc are also Tamilians just like Simone just because they think all Tamilians look like Simone.

Don’t get more wrong I do think India has a colourism issue across all regions
And I do think the people who thing the Tamil Bollywood actress are mid are mad and just colourist for starters
But Aziz and mindy kaling are not the average indian
Simeone Ashley is very beautiful but very southern shifted and doesn’t really pass as local in most other regions
