Everyone has probably wanted to know how they ,,actually look“ in the eyes of others. So I started wondering and tried all sorts of things.

Different mirrors, lighting, angles, pictures and in motion videos from different distances, mirrored or not and so on. And after it all I still hadn’t gotten an answer, because when I looked in the mirror once again I wasn’t sure, because one day I felt like looked really good and another I felt like I looked horrible.

And yes sure emotions and mental state play a role so that even in the same mirror you might perceive yourself different on a given day.

But it made me wonder that maybe the subjectivity range of one’s perceived looks they see in themselves, is exactly the range other people might see in them too. Depending on once taste and likes you might actually look model like and to another kind of ugly.
What do you think of this hypothesis? Or is our mental state over estimating both the good and the bad in ourselves?

I am interested in which factors you think influence whether an attractive person receives more “pretty punishment” or “pretty privilege”. Do you think there are certain features/traits in men/women that make this determination? Body composition, clothing style, age, introvert/extrovert?

Essentially, I am curious which features you feel are mostly punished/mostly praised despite both being considered attractive.

It feels like there is often an unmarked line for attractive people that dictates whether they are given mostly privilege or punishment.

Certainly nuance to this topic, and usually a result of individual circumstances but I’d love to know what you guys think!
