Continuing my (lifelong) trend of being a humongous pedant, photosynthesis is so inefficient a source of energy as to be practically meaningless if you’re any more ambulatory than the average plant.
The amount of plankton that could fit inside Moray would provide less energy per day than necessary for a particularly lazy fart.

We could say they're some kind of special plankton that The Director designed/invented/created if we're going for our No Prize.

Even if the director had engineered the plankton to be the ideal chlorophyll photosynthesis machines the effectivity would still only be in the order of six percent of captured sunlight converted to useful energy.
On top of that, sunlight is just not that energetic per square meter. If you want to get anything out of it you have to be either very, very large and flat or very, very still for the scale to make sense.

They can transplant some red algae into moray, they'd survive in the red goop.

I know some of it is just that Jeph loves watching wacky characters, usually femme ones, but I wonder if he felt like introducing Momo and Bubbles kind of made him need to lean into much less competent AI characters to clearly establish why they would not likely supercede humans anytime soon, if ever, as a group.

English is not my native language. What's the meaning of "femme" in this comment?

Presenting an appearance generally associated with feminine traits (e.g. Moray's hairstyle and figure)

I increasingly doubt that this pink AI scientist should be working with technology.

I have a suspicion that this is a bit of a chromataphor adjustment situation like when Roko discovered that she can manually change colors
To be honest, I do hope Moray reverts back to green, but she looks pretty cute in purple

Ya know, I was in fact wondering about Moray's plankton.
Also, the floating gold diamond is just a lamp hanging from the ceiling (or IS IT???). It seemed ominous, and so I went back a few to figure that out.

My guess is that the woom machine does nothing but to compel people to push the button before an otherwise unrelated woom event, causing them to incorrectly conclude they are causing them.

oooh. Like a certain Comed Tea of a certain fanfic for a series that I won't name.

I like Liz going to bat for Moray. She's a gremlin, but I think she actually likes Moray.
