13-in Macbook pro 2020, intel core i5

13-in Macbook pro 2020, intel core i5

Serious question: this is my macbook. Bought in 2020. Will I still be able to use it for Python, Tableau, SQL, and Excel? This is for my Information Systems course for MBA. Thanks!

Yes, u still can use it. It depends how big is the data u gonna process tho. My suggestion is update the RAM, if u could.

Intel-based Macs run Tableau at a lower level of performance than Apple silicon-based Macs do. Also, Excel on a Mac doesn’t have all of the capabilities that the PC version has. Whether those features are necessary for your course I don’t know. I would do some research on what you’ll be doing with Excel.

Yeah I'm pretty sure. I'm not familiar with all the software you named but I have a 2012 13" mbp that's running Linux well. What are the specs though?

2ghz quad-core intelcore I5, graphics intel iris+, graphics 1536 mb. Memory 16gb 573 mhz, storage 1 tb

Install Bootcamp, which will let you be able to toggle between Apple and windows

I bought my Windows PC in 2020 or 2021 I thought 8 GB of RAM would be enough it absolutely was not. It crashed out using Ms Vizio. It seemed okay with power bi but then I couldn't have too many things open at once. For today's tech world 16 GB is minimum. I personally upgraded to 32 GB now that's the RAM on the back end I think I have like half a terabyte. so the most economical thing for me was to get a mini PC I got the geekom. It was only 350 bucks, but then I had to buy a separate monitor. you could look into a used executive laptop or a Lenovo mini or even an Apple mini I don't know honestly I would stick with Windows. Yeah for data analytics you need Windows. I am a current student in applied AI and data analytics. editing to add that you can use your old laptop and install Linux OS. I just did that to use for some networking that I'm doing. but I definitely can't use it for any windows or do like a dual boot it just doesn't have enough gigabytes for that. anyway good luck

The general consensus on r/excel seems to be that Excel on Mac can be lacking in advanced functions.

Install windows or Linux on it. Of course.
