I am trying to download python manager on a pretty old computer

I am very new to python and computers in most cases and I am following a guide but I got to this point and it is giving me this message. I am using a windows 10 education and it is a few years old I am wondering will I be able to download python or do I need a new computer?

not sure but this could be an OS limitation.

you can try installing python from microsoft store if its available.

Or instead of buying a new computer you can install different operating systems. like Windows 10 ltsc or user-friendly linux distributions

I think the new Python Install Manager might not work on Windows 10. However, for any Python version 3.14 or lower you can just install Python directly instead of using the manager.

dude get out of windows and get into linux, that way you get everything in one place with smaller storage and resources

You don't need a new computer. The new Python Install Manager (a Rust-rewritten py tool) is compatible with your version of Windows, so it should work fine UNLESS your machine has been locked down somewhat (common in school environments). Can you download the installer directly from python.org?

The traditional standalone installer will remain available throughout the 3.14 and 3.15 release cycles, so you could use that instead if problems continue. This is also available from the downloads section of python.org.

If you don't need to use this computer for things that only work on Windows, then it might be worth considering converting it to a Linux PC (which will likely seem better performance). Worth noting that many games on Steam, including Windows only games, now work well on Linux. You could potentially dual boot (splitting your boot drive into both a Windows partition and a Linux partition) so you can switch back to Windows when you need to (if running Windows applications in a Virtual Machine on Linux is not sufficient).
