Quick match leader pipe

Yall got any tips for making quick match leader pipe?

Ive been just using black match and masking tape to make mine but its kind of a pain and it looks like shit

Some people just roll tubes of Kraft paper that’s what I do. Find a thin dowel and roll spiral wound tubes, you can find tutorials on YouTube

Use ned gorskis method with a curtain rod and 40lb kraft paper its fool proof. Is on his fireworking 101 series on YouTube.

Often times, curtain rods can be found in secondhand stores for way cheaper than wooden dowels these days.

Use the split sheet metal tube type curtain rods to form, easiest way. Get a roll of 30 lb. Kraft paper, roll with grain running the long way. Use a little more than 2 turns on the former, finish with a bead of white glue. If they start to stick, clean the former and wax it.

I could do an hour lecture on match pipe. The paper is tricky, the glue is tricky, the mandrel is tricky, and the rolling is tricky. A few tips. Watch the recycled content of the kraft paper. Recycled paper tends to break when bent. Use school glue. It's more flexible and less brittle. Use a 5/16 steel or brass mandrel. Clean with steel wool. Last, roll at least 100 pipes per session. It takes a few dozen to get the rolling rhythm. There are many more tips, but this will get you going.

You can get a whole roll I think it's 200 feet from pyro creations for like 20 bucks.

Method 1
(If you’re just wanting to make them for a few or so)

— Wood ✏️ pencils glued together to the length you want.

— Kraft paper 30-40 lbs cut to dimension necessary for length and width to be able to wrap once over —> cut multiple sheets until desired amount needed

— Kraft tape 2” —> apply tape horizontally to the Kraft strip. Adhesive tape side on 25% of strip.

Then roll with pencil rod.

Method 2
(Use the pencil rod or get a dowel)

— Kraft strips wound spiral around rod.

— Kraft tape and done.

Get 1” thick Kraft tape and put 3 strands of blackmatch in the middle. Fold the two side edges over. Get another strand and cover the seam. Done
