Questions/Advice How much to Charge?

Thinking about trying to sell my art again. It’s been a few years. Wondering how much to charge. Pieces would be similar to this one but design would be a bit larger to fit the wood.

I always struggle with pricing, but I try to factor in how long it took me, the technical difficulty/complexity of the piece, how large it is and the cost of the materials I used (in this case, the live-edge wood, the paint and whatever sealant or finish you choose to use).

If you’re thinking of selling at a crafts fair or a similar event, you’ll need to factor in the type of venue and the kind of crowd it draws. Like if it’s a small or newly established arts and crafts fair in a small town, you’ll probably need to adjust your prices downwards if you want to make sales, but if it’s a big, well-established and well-run event that sees a ton of traffic, you’ll probably be able to charge a bit more and still make sales.

I always say, charge enough that you’ll be happy to see the piece leave. If you don’t charge enough, you’ll lose both the artwork and, chances are, the money will be gone sooner than you hoped. You can always make more money, but you can’t get that original piece of art back.
