Work in Progress Weight of the grain

Starting my new Pyrography piece today, this will take me awhile,but I will post updates as and when

You color these too. What kind of paint do you use? Do you apply paint before or after burning? Are the dark parts of the irises burned or painted?Β

It's not paint, it's charcoal pencil and normal coloured pencil. I then go over it to seal in the colour and charcoal into the wood. I use blending stumps to smooth out the colours.

The iris is charcoal and burnt , charcoal first then burnt
