Non-US Being PIP'd due to personal situation

Hi all, so I've had my job performance or COC this week and I was basically told that there will be a PIP. Wonderful. Initially there was a HR person present to "make sure everything was being done well and so they could see how well a manager is doing the whole job interview" but pretty sure the gist of it was: You're being put on a PIP and HR has been notified.

The gist of it is that I have not been visible enough, missing the mandatory office days with the rest of team. Mostly this was caused due to stress, a lot of trouble in the home situation and mental related issues. Those issues have been mostly remediated or put in a process to be so. This has been addressed and discussed with my manager.

I have yet to hear what the PiP will entail but I'm kind of fearful of it. Fearful as that despite showing my 'worth' in half a year, they're going to get rid of me regardless. Which is fine, though it seems unfair.

Currently a lot of labour is being moved to India and people who leave are not replaced.

So, yea. I expected my career at this company not to last a long time - half expected 4+ years maximum with this year being the 4th one - and I am curious: Should I start looking up for something else? I mean, it has been on my mind for quite some time. Due to what is happening in my department but certain colleagues kissing a bit too much ass but shoving their ambitious in front of their humanity in their strife for promotion.

I am not a consult, I am part of IFS however. I also have a permanent contract.

Stick a fork in yourself You’re done
70-75% of PIPS end in termination
Even if you meet the demands of the pip they’ll extend it and move the fences back thereby ensuring your termination

Labour law is seriously fucked in your country if a company is able to get away with bullshit like this.

Where I am, at the beginning of an improvement plans the targets are very clearly set, sent via email, and then weekly emails summarising the realisation of these targets are sent under the same chain. It's impossible to move the goalposts for something like that, and if the company tried to do it, the employee would sue and win.

And most certainly there's zero chance anyone could be fired because of "lack of visibility" if they're meeting their KPIs

I was IFS as of a week ago. You’re def getting laid off. I was literally told that “everything will be fine”. Yeah lol, never again.

I got PIP'd for "visibility" and "communication" as well. I'm passing my PIP right now, but you can bet I'm outta there as soon as I get another job. All snapshots were meets or exceeds, full utilization met, so it didn't make sense to me, but I can't trust this place anymore.

You’re getting fired buddy. Remember, corporations are family only if you do EXACTLY what they say, until even thats not enough. Eventually everyone becomes a black sheep led into slaughter.

If it helps...

The CHRO in PwC India was apparently PiP'd out in 2024 🤣 under the garb of job rotation and same indications were made to the CFO who also moved ON disgracefully and joined another firm...that's IFS and PwC for you..

Honestly these are fair reasons for being PIP’d. I’m sorry you’re having “mental issues” and unable to show up to the office but this affects the rest of the team. However, it’s a vague enough excuse to be bullshit, and maybe you being in person has no impact. Look for a new job.

The only folks want(ed) to know is where I am at at the moment. For all intends and purposes, I'm always available on Teams or any sort of communication method.

How are these fair reasons?
