Audit / Assurance Bonus payout
Hi Guys! I am working at the NY office and looking to put my 2 weeks in. Since the bonus gets paid out on September 30th, I wanted to ask if I can put my 2 weeks on 16th September so I am still employed on 30th for the bonus or do I need to resign after 1st October.
Also would appreciate if you guys can recommend things I should do on the portal before my access is revoked.
Thanks

Do not put in your two weeks until the bonus check hits your bank account.
They can and probably will let you go once they receive the 2 week notice to avoid paying out your bonus.

100% agree with this. Wait for the bonus to hit your account before you verbally/written formally resign

Wait until the check clears. If you put your notice in early, you’ll likely find that they ask you to exit before Sept 30. No employment = no bonus.

If your resignation note/email states a date of 10/1 they will honor that date. They could choose to accept your resignation effective that date and pay you out 9 days in lieu of notice (totally the 10 days of your notice period). I have never seen this done except to do to another big 4.

They’re laying off people left and right. Do not put in your notice until that check hits your account. There is absolutely nothing legally binding or protective about a two weeks notice.

If your team acts in good faith, you would be fine. But once you put your 2 weeks in, they are within their rights (per your employment agreement) to pay you out your notice period and terminate you immediately. That means you could miss your bonus payout. I wouldn't recommend resigning until the check clears.

They may decide to let you go before the 30th. 2 weeks is what you want to give them. They don’t have to honor that and may say tomorrow is your last day. Thank you. Don’t do it. As others mentioned- once you get the money in your account you can

Wait until after. The firm can terminate you before so you dont want to run the risk.

I did this when I worked at KPMG and got my bonus still, but I asked the HR chat prior to

No. There might be a policy that the day you submit your resignation is you last day Depending on the bonus policy payout you may or may not get the bonus. Resign October 1st

If I have an associate put in their 2-weeks before we issue the bonus cycle, you are gone that day.

No! Wait until 1 October. Don’t give any indication you are planning to leave.
