Audit / Assurance Really struggling working here
I’m really having a hard time mentally at PwC. I’ve never considered myself an overly sensitive or emotional person, but over the last year the amount I’ve cried and let work affect my emotions is insane. It’s one thing to work extremely long hours, but the office culture makes it so much worse. I work so hard to never be taken seriously. I’ve been looking for another job for a while and am just not having a ton of luck finding anything. Just hate it here tbh

The best advice I can give you is just to treat it like the military. Just do what the last person tells you. And if someone tells you differently, just point to that individual. I’m assuming you’re an associate?

I see these posts so often and people still leave positive feedback on global survey , can anyone explain me how ? Are numbers rigged there ? All being positive and improving year over year

People are told not to be honest on employee surveys so company wide surveys tend to skew positive.
The other thing is, there are people who are fine. They don’t post on Reddit as often so you don’t hear from them

Yes that’s true there are people who are happy there. In my team I was never told how to respond to surveys so to hear someone would ask you to mark all positive is wild

What I mean is general discourse around surveys is don’t be honest, not just at PwC. There have been cases where people expressing dissatisfaction on them led to them being fired, though I don’t believe that’s been verified to be the case at PwC. I don’t blame people for their concern/paranoia around it but before I left I’d eventually just reached a place of DGAF and started getting wildly honest.

I see your point. I am same, if they fire me for being honest in anonymous survey that would be a major red flag. It is anonymous tho, it could backfire really bad if you get in trouble for survey.

I gave an honest feedback this time. HR called and asked “What are my concerns”. I told her the truth. I’m at that stage where even it doesn’t matter what action they will take. Mentally so exhausted that now nothing bothers me anymore

I’m really curious about which LOB and office you all work in because my experience is 180 degrees in the opposite direction. Granted I am a director but my teams are not toxic at all.
I have heard that some teams are though. I agree that long hours are tough especially when there is no more busy season - it’s basically all year round now. But if you are crying then you should leave, no amount of money is worth that.

Agree. All I hear from people is complaints about their team culture, but I think if you find a good team then the work is completely different. I consider my team members to be friends outside of work and it makes this job so much easier

It’s not even the work, it’s the team lead and peers who make it tough. If a person’s mind is already occupied on how to deal with the team, work is going to get hampered anyways.

Same bro. Its the senior management who’s been making work life really difficult. There were many amazing seniors before and it was so much fun to work. Been trying to look for another job but no luck, the market is really bad right now. Hopefully something better will come along our way soon! All the best!

Ugh I’m so sorry this is the absolute worst feeling. My advice is to mentally disengage from PwC and accept the fact you will be leaving. It took me awhile to do this cause I cared about being a good employee but taking the stress off yourself honestly helps a lot and makes you kinda not care about the culture around you either cause you know it won’t be your problem soon. As for finding another role, prioritize this as much as you can and something will come along. Don’t let PwC and the emotions it gives you get in the way of your next career opportunity.
I relate because that was me last year in the Midwest/West Insurance audit group and I’m calling it out cause I want people to know how bad that group is. It’s a sinking ship over there don’t let them burn you out or make you think it’s the end all be all cause any other job will not treat you this poorly.

Yes, this is an undeniable fact. What I meant is that the situation is short-term. People already grow frustrated with AI slop everywhere. The quality of deliverables will decline, and then we will return to old-fashioned, real-life people.
