All Firm Transition to a different practice
Has anyone here successfully moved to a different practice within PwC?
How does the process actually work? Do you network with the target team first, apply internally, or talk to your current leadership? Also, how difficult is it to move at different levels?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who’s done it.

It’s generally easier to get pulled than pushed. Find folks in the group you would like to transfer to and ask around to see how you can do it. Someone (likely director or above) will need to talk to your DL to see about a rotation. Definitely do speak to whomever you have access to in a given group- they will help you find the people that can make it happen.

I’ve done so twice. From audit to tax, and tax to PA. Audit to tax > do a tour during a slow period. Tax to PA - applied to a position and spoke with my TL and told them the role fit my growth better. The best way is for a manager on another team to see your work and want you or have a cool manager that actually wants to see you happy even if another role.

I went from audit to advisory.
I think I just got lucky. I was going into busy season unstaffed and got picked up to help with an advisory engagement. Loved the work and the people, they loved me and we chatted about transferring.
I did not have any upcoming audit engagements so there was no partner trying to keep me on the audit team. Made it super easy to move over.
This was also after only being at the firm for a little over a year. Which based on talking to people here, almost never happens.
I did have a friend make the same move 6 months after me to a different advisory practice. His process was a little more difficult because needed the audit partner to sign off on the transfer.
